Cheongdam hair salon Gracey perm after removing extensions: Park Jun

I got the stylist's signature perm, the Gracey perm, at Park Jun Beauty Lab Cheongdam Branch (박준뷰티랩 청담점), a hair salon in Cheongdam.

I'd worn hair extensions for two years, so I decided to take them out and finally perm my own real hair after so long! While searching for hair salons in Cheongdam, I found Park Jun Beauty Lab Cheongdam Branch, and this is my review of the Gracey perm I got from my stylist ♥

What is a Gracey perm?

The Gracey perm is a design perm that adds lots of layers to long hair in a high-layer style, and it's the signature perm of the stylist at Park Jun Beauty Lab Cheongdam Branch!

It's a high-layered perm that balances volume and waves, and because so many layers go in, the whole head gets natural movement and a light feel. That seems to be its signature look!

I thought this style was perfect for someone like me, whose hair was badly damaged from wearing extensions for so long! With so many layers, the damaged, frizzy ends get neatly dealt with while the volume stays, so even damaged hair feels much easier to style 👍

You can see it the moment you come out of the subway, so there's no worry about getting lost.

A Cheongdam hair salon with many foreign customers

While I was getting my treatment, I realized Park Jun Beauty Lab Cheongdam Branch is much more famous than I thought. Looking around the shop, it seemed like almost half the customers were foreigners!

Seeing so many people of different nationalities come in, I thought this must be a Cheongdam hair salon with quite a reputation. I'd heard that Gangnam salons get lots of foreign tourists and overseas Koreans, and having been there, it really seemed that way 👍

Gracey perm before & after extension removal

Before the treatment, I'd worn extensions for a long time and just let my hair grow with no plan, so it was thick, flat with no layers, and since it's curly it was a total mess ㅜㅜ

But after talking with my stylist and getting the Gracey perm, the result was completely different ❤

My round face shape has always worried me, but once she built up the layers in a high-layer shape, my face line looks much slimmer!!

It's my first hairstyle in two years, and I'm really happy with it♥

How does the Gracey perm process go?

Consultation: checking face shape and hair condition

The Gracey perm started with a consultation, and my stylist carefully checked my face shape and hair condition. After so long in extensions my ends were badly damaged and messy-looking, so I told her I wanted a style with lots of layers. She said that in my current state, adding lots of layers would look much more natural and clean, so we settled on the Gracey perm!

Cut: high layers to tidy damaged ends

She put in quite a lot of layers right from the cut. She boldly trimmed off the damaged ends and built up the high layers one over another,

and I could see the damaged parts being covered naturally. With so many layers my hair looked much lighter, and the messy ends felt neatly sorted! Cutting off that messy hair already felt so refreshing;;

Straightening: volume on the curly top section

My top section is curly, so the perm doesn't take there, and she straightened it instead. She added volume there too, so my round face seemed even more covered by the cut plus volume!

Heat perm and finishing blow-dry

After the cut and straightening, she set the rods and shaped the waves with the heat perm machine. I worried it would be hard to sit for so long, but she checked on my hair now and then and kept things comfortable, so it wasn't as boring as I expected!

After the rods came out, she finished with a blow-dry, and even with my hair still damp I could see the waves holding their shape ><

When I looked in the mirror after the blow-dry and styling, I was so happy!!! Thanks to all the layers, the volume and waves are balanced rather than overdone, and the result is a natural high-layered perm style.

Best of all, the damaged, messy ends are naturally hidden between the layers, so my hair looks much healthier. That's my favorite part ><

Is a healthy perm OK for damaged hair?

They say Park Jun Beauty Lab Cheongdam Branch's signature healthy perm keeps hair damage to a minimum while the waves last well. My stylist took my damaged hair into account and was careful even with choosing the product, and I could feel my hair wasn't damaged at all after the treatment!!

Above all, my stylist asked about my lifestyle and usual styling habits during the consultation, so deciding on a hairstyle never felt pressured. She also explained aftercare in detail, so keeping the style up at home should be much easier!
