What two people ordered for 71,000 won at Choe Uyeong Sushiya

Looking at the menu, they had everything from sushi to sashimi, kaisendon, and udon. We ended up ordering a good variety this time!
- Premium sushi 17pcs — 33,000 won
- Red shrimp sashimi, 6 pieces — 11,000 won
- Shrimp tempura udon — 6,000 won
- Special kaisendon — 19,000 won
- Zero-sugar cola — 2,000 won
Total: 71,000 won. Sushi alone felt like it wouldn't be enough, so we added sashimi, kaisendon, and udon too, which was great for sharing a variety of dishes!

A warm miso soup comes out as a default side! Each table also has pickled radish and pickled ginger ready to go, so you can pair them with the sushi to your taste.

As the dishes we ordered came out one by one, the whole table filled up and it really looked so hearty!! With premium sushi, red shrimp sashimi, kaisendon, and shrimp tempura udon all on the table, it looked filling just to look at~! Having several different dishes together meant we never got tired of it and it was perfect for sharing between the two of us!

Red shrimp sashimi: six pieces for 11,000 won
This is the red shrimp sashimi! The shrimp were plump with meat, looking so appetizing just to see, and one bite in, they had a springy texture with a subtle sweetness that was delicious ㅠㅠ Eating shrimp as sashimi rather than as sushi let me taste the shrimp's own flavor even more clearly.

A great side to order when sushi alone doesn't feel like enough!

How is the 17-piece premium sushi at 33,000 won?
Our main order, the 17-piece premium sushi, arrived! Even at a glance you could see it was made up of a wide variety of sushi types, and it looked so hearty. The fish overall was thick and the rice-to-fish ratio was good, so each bite really let you feel the texture of the fish :)

With so many varieties, it was fun picking one piece at a time, and nice to taste a lot of different kinds of sushi in one sitting! The fish was especially fresh, with no fishy taste at all and a clean finish — if you love sushi, I'd really recommend going for the premium sushi ^_^

We tried each piece and honestly everything was so good we demolished it all ㅠㅋㅋㅋ Each kind had a slightly different texture and flavor of fish, so it was fun eating them one by one, and not a single piece disappointed. We kept saying 'so good, so good' and before we knew it the plate was empty… Sushi really is at its happiest when you get to try a lot of varieties ><

Special kaisendon (seafood rice bowl) for 19,000 won
And then the special kaisendon I'd been looking forward to arrived! Loaded generously with all kinds of seafood, the visual alone looked so hearty ••• Each piece of fish had a fresh, chewy texture, and eating it with the rice made the seafood flavors come together even better.

It has a different appeal from sushi, so if you're ordering multiple dishes to share, I'd recommend adding kaisendon too! The portion was quite generous, so it made for a filling meal on its own!

Shrimp tempura udon for 6,000 won
Lastly, we also ordered shrimp tempura udon! Springy noodles in a warm broth, topped with crispy fried shrimp tempura — appetizing just from the visual haha. The broth was warm and clean, so it went well alongside the sushi, and taking a sip between bites felt refreshing! The shrimp tempura was crispy too, and even better with the udon ㅠㅠ At 6,000 won, it was an easy dish to add without any burden!
Is Choe Uyeong Sushiya worth it for sushi near Jongak Station?
If you're looking for a good sushi spot near Jongak Station, I'd recommend Choe Uyeong Sushiya Jongno Branch! We ordered a wide range — premium sushi, red shrimp sashimi, special kaisendon, and shrimp tempura udon — and every single thing was delicious, so we really demolished it all.. The sushi in particular came in so many varieties that it was fun picking through them, and when visiting with more people, ordering a variety of dishes to share works really well.
With solo-friendly seats as well as tables for groups, it seems like a good spot for solo dining, dates, or lunch or dinner for office workers 😊 If you're craving good sushi near Jongak Station, give it a try!
