Bucheon Station monkfish stew, after-work date & forgotten roe: Haemul

In short

Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch (해물특별시 부천역본점) is a monkfish and seafood stew restaurant in Bucheon, Gyeonggi, 5 minutes from Bucheon Station, that serves its stews on a stone plate. After work, the writer and her boyfriend ordered the small stone-plate monkfish set at Shin Ramyun-level spice with extra roe, but the roe was forgotten, then boiled and served separately, so it hadn't soaked up any sauce. The stone-plate monkfish stew at Haemul Teukbyeolsi is just right for two and made for soju, though spice lovers should go hotter than Shin Ramyun level.

What is Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch like?

Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch (해물특별시 부천역본점) is a monkfish and seafood stew restaurant 5 minutes from Bucheon Station, and I hear there's a wait on weekday and weekend evenings :) I'd heard Bucheon Station had a monkfish and seafood stew place with a line out the door, so I ran straight over! You can adjust the spice level, so if you're craving seafood and monkfish stew, this Bucheon spot is worth running to. Let me introduce it, haha.

How do waiting and parking work at Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch?

There's no waiting app; you just write your name on the waiting list in front of the restaurant. The restaurant has no parking lot, but you can park in the basement of the Sangnok Free Zone Building and walk over, I was told. Parking is free for up to 2 hours.

What makes it different from other monkfish stew restaurants?

What sets Haemul Teukbyeolsi apart from other monkfish places is that the food comes served on a stone plate, they say! In March 2026 it even appeared on the TV show Saengsaeng Jeongbo's "God of Business" (장사의 신) in an episode on stone-plate seafood stew, lol. Maybe because it was on TV, it seems even more popular.

My boyfriend said he'd actually been here a few times before. I came after work too, and more and more people kept arriving until the place got packed, haha. There's also a Naver receipt review event, with discounts on the squid and octopus that go into the seafood and monkfish stews. If you want to add those, join the review event :)

Ordering: size and spice level

You order easily by tablet: stone-plate seafood stew, stone-plate monkfish stew, seafood monkfish stew, seafood hot pot, algoni (roe) stew and more... with small / medium / large sizes and a choice of spice level! I ordered the small stone-plate monkfish stew, and since they said it has no roe at all and only a tiny bit of milt (gon-i), I added roe, haha.

A bottle I haven't seen in ages ^^ I used to use these as water bottles, and here it is at Haemul Teukbyeolsi, lol. Nice to see you again, old bottle.

What comes with the stone-plate monkfish set?

The stone-plate monkfish set comes with steamed egg, corn cheese, seaweed soup and fried dumplings. But I'd added roe and didn't see any, so I asked, and they said they'd forgotten to put it in..! So they'd boil it and bring it later, haha.

Thin fried dumplings came out and I was like, huh???? The kind of fried snack you'd normally dip in tteokbokki, but dipped in the monkfish sauce, it goes so well, haha :)

How big was the small stone-plate monkfish, and how spicy was Shin Ramyun level?

The small stone-plate monkfish was just the right size for two. I chose a Shin Ramyun level of spice, but a bit hotter would have been fine, haha. If you like spicy food, pick a level hotter than Shin Ramyun!!

Milt, chewy monkfish, crunchy bean sprouts... this is why we eat monkfish stew, and I fully feasted. It calls for rice and booze, so of course, order soju right away~!!! Monkfish grilled on the stone plate stays piping hot, so it tastes twice as good.

The letdown: the roe that came separately

The extra roe was boiled separately and came out later, so the seasoning hadn't soaked in and it tasted bland ;;; That was a bit of a bummer, haha. Instead, the trick is dipping the monkfish in the separate sauce.

How are the steamed egg and corn cheese sides?

The steamed egg and corn cheese that come with the monkfish set are perfect sides to cool down the spicy seafood and monkfish stew. Which makes me think I should have ordered it even spicier!

Both the fluffy steamed egg and the soft, sweet corn cheese were delicious. Even if you order only the signature dish, a variety of sides comes out, so of course it tastes even better, haha ^^

Is Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch good for drinks and group gatherings?

Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch is great as a meal, but the dishes also go so well with alcohol that it works for both drinks and dinner. Why was I craving soju so badly? I ordered it right away and happily dug into the seafood stew! The drinks just slide down, is it only me~~ haha. Seafood stew, yum, let's go~!

It's a good place for company dinners and gatherings; there was a group event when I went too~~ If you hate waiting, book ahead. For tonight's dinner, I recommend Bucheon monkfish stew, seafood stew and seafood hot pot!
