Non-coffee café in Yeonnam-dong for a top-3 matcha latte: Pip

If you're looking for a Yeonnam-dong café with real character, I'd recommend Pip Espresso Bar (피프에스프레소바). Here's my visit report: a tiramisu with rich cocoa powder, a fresh matcha latte full of matcha aroma, and Pip Coffee topped with soft cream. I got to enjoy all of it.

It's a great place for days when you don't want just one cup of coffee but a slow break with dessert too. It was drizzling the whole time, and sitting there looking out through the floor-to-ceiling window with a cup of tea was so lovely.

Pip Espresso Bar feels like a café made from a converted detached house, and it suits the distinctive alley atmosphere of Yeonnam-dong.

Yeonnam-dong has so many cafés with personality! Pip is one of them, with stylish interiors and soft lighting that make it easy to chat. You can tell care went into every table and chair. Seating is roomy, so just sit in whichever chair you like.

It's a great spot for photos too, so it works for a Yeonnam-dong date or a café outing with friends. The soft lighting makes pictures come out nicely. ^^

Pip Espresso Bar's matcha latte: a good non-coffee pick?

We ordered tiramisu + Pip Coffee + a matcha latte.

The matcha latte here isn't too sweet, and the bitterness, the sweetness and the deep aroma of matcha linger. I've been drinking non-coffee drinks lately, and the lingering matcha aroma was strong enough to put this in my top 3 matcha lattes so far. And that vivid green color!

The matcha latte is nutty and smooth without being too sweet, so I think it's a good choice if you love the fragrance of matcha or want something other than coffee.

What does the signature Pip Coffee taste like?

Pip Coffee is the signature coffee of Pip Espresso Bar in Yeonnam-dong, known as an Earl Grey-based drink with espresso and cream added. The rich coffee flavor, the fragrance of Earl Grey and the soft texture of the cream all come together.

It's an appealing coffee where you get the fragrant Earl Grey, the bitterness of the coffee and the sweet softness of the cream all at once.

The tiramisu at Pip Espresso Bar comes layered in a clear glass, a sweet-and-bitter dessert generously dusted with cocoa powder. It looked delicious from the start, and if you dig a spoon deep down you get the rich tiramisu part and the sweetness of the cream together. Irresistible flavor!

Paired with coffee, the sweetness of the tiramisu and the deep flavor of the coffee go well together.

Restroom, exterior and terrace

The restroom is indoors, with stylish interiors, and it's clean.

A "Pfiff" sign is attached to the wall, so it shouldn't be hard to find. Pip Espresso Bar sits in a charming alley! It rained that day so we couldn't sit on the terrace, but on a nice day it would be a wonderful spot for a cup of coffee.
