Gyodae Station Korean BBQ: pre-grilled flower rib work dinner, Huiyeol

You know those days when you just want neat, clean Korean food? It was one of those days, so I went looking for a good pot rice place and ended up at Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch (희열 서초교대점), which also serves meat. I'm writing this review hoping it helps anyone searching for a Gyodae Station group dinner spot or Korean food near Seocho Station !!

Besides the rooms, there were lots of 4-person tables. It looked like many office workers from nearby companies eat here.

What comes in the Huiyeol grill set: side dishes and stew

I ordered the grill set, which comes with hanwoo (Korean beef) flower rib and golden tilefish pot rice.

A salad comes as standard, so I started the meal by taming my blood sugar, haha. Namul (seasoned vegetable sides) are a hassle to make at home, so I was happy to get three kinds.

The chive kimchi(?) was nicely sour and ripe, great for whetting the appetite. There was bracken too, so I kept circling the side dishes,,,~~~ For someone who lives alone, Korean side dishes are happiness. Okay, now the main dish arrives ~~

Do you grill the hanwoo flower rib yourself?

At Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch, the hanwoo flower rib comes fully grilled. It was convenient not to grill it myself, and nice that no smell clung to my clothes.

Even at 200g, the portion was quite generous. There were plenty of vegetables to go with it, which made it feel even cleaner. It's an easy set to eat after work on a weekday ! The garlic came fully grilled too, which made me a proper Korean, haha.

Eating it with the garlic sauce that comes with shredded chili cut the richness of the hanwoo. Nice.

A stew comes along too, and it was cheonggukjang-style (fermented soybean), which made it even tastier. If you're looking for a hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) place near Seocho or Gyodae, consider Huiyeol, with its good menu lineup.

Golden tilefish pot rice and scorched-rice tea to finish

I liked the golden tilefish pot rice at Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch even more for how clean it tasted. The rice was good, and two pieces of tilefish sat on top, so it's easy for two people to share.

The rice itself was glossy and delicious. The lunch special has a variety of pot rice sets, so it looks great for a team lunch for Seocho and Gyodae office workers too. I finished with nurungji tea (sungnyung, scorched rice tea), which was tasty and wrapped up the meal neatly !

Drinks and dessert at Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch

Huiyeol Seocho Gyodae Branch has a wide range of drinks, from yangju (whisky and other liquor) to traditional liquor and soju, so pairing them with the food is easy !! I was craving makgeolli (rice wine) with Korean food, so I ordered some haha.

For a last dessert I even had puffed corn (gangnaengi) and wrapped up a tidy meal !!
