Getting to Honma Tuna and parking

Honma Tuna is near Yangjaesiminuisup Station, so it's easy to get to. The storefront looks clean, so even first-timers won't have trouble finding it. It's close to Yangjaecheon too, so a stroll before or after the meal makes it a perfect date course! For parking, I hear a nearby public or paid lot is the way to go.

Does Honma Tuna have private rooms?
Honma Tuna has separate private rooms. I reserved ahead and was shown to one. It was quiet and private, and I thought it would work well for a date, a family gathering or an important meal.

There were plenty of table seats too, and the clean, tidy atmosphere overall left an impression 🤎

What we ordered: the Special course for two
We ordered the Special course for two 🍣 The Special is a ₩45,000 one-per-person dinner course (11 items) made up of bluefin up to no. 4 fatty belly, medium fatty belly, tail, special cuts, bigeye tuna belly, collar, back, inner meat and swordfish belly. Getting to enjoy so many different dishes made it very satisfying.

In what order does the Honma Tuna Special course arrive?
The Special course starts with warm soup and side dishes. The soup was a gentle way to settle the stomach before the meal, and its mild flavor made it easy to eat.

Next came tuna hoe-muchim (tuna sashimi tossed in sauce). The sweet and tangy seasoning went well with the fresh tuna and got my appetite going. It built up the anticipation before the main course began.

The main tuna sashimi: how well was it thawed?
And finally, today's main dish, the tuna sashimi, arrived 🍥

It looked so good it caught my eye right away. A generous pile of thick-cut tuna was on the plate, and you could feel the freshness just by looking at it.

With tuna, I've often been disappointed by the thawing, but not at all here. The texture melting softly the moment it hit my mouth was really impressive.

The fat wasn't excessive, just right, so it never felt greasy, and a little wasabi wrapped in seaweed brought out even more flavor. The first plate alone would have satisfied me, but it didn't end there.

The second tuna sashimi plate and tuna steak
After I'd eaten a fair amount, Honma Tuna brought out a second plate of tuna. You get to enjoy the different flavors and textures of each cut in generous amounts, so tuna lovers will be very happy ❣️

The tuna steak served with the second plate was impressive too! The outside is lightly seared with a nutty aroma, and the inside stays moist under a savory soy-sauce-based seasoning, which gave it a different kind of charm.

Butter-grilled shrimp and abalone, plus fried shrimp
After that came butter-grilled shrimp and abalone, with a subtle butter aroma that tasted upscale. The springy shrimp and chewy abalone were great, and I thought they were just right to eat between other dishes in the course! The fried shrimp was nicely crispy too 🦐 Crunchy outside and moist inside, the kind of taste anyone, young or old, would like.

Finishing with spicy udon
Near the end of the Special course, udon (thick wheat noodles) was served. It was a good finisher after all that tuna and the other dishes, and the spicy, kicky broth cleaned up my palate. I was already quite full, yet I kept reaching for the broth without thinking.
Is Honma Tuna good for a Yangjaecheon date dinner?
Honma Tuna was very satisfying, both for the tuna quality and for the variety of dishes in the course. The thawing and freshness of the tuna were so good that I understood why it has so many regulars. The private room made for a quiet meal, and the staff's friendly service stuck with me too :)
If you're looking for a Yangjaecheon date restaurant, it's worth a visit! I'd love to go back and try the other courses too 💌
