Chungmuro soba restaurant: ₩17,000 Soba Hansang set, Nagwon-ui Soba
In short
Nagwon-ui Soba (낙원의소바) is a soba and bossam (boiled pork slices) restaurant on the 2nd floor near Chungmuro Station and Dongguk University in Jung-gu, Seoul. On a second visit, the writer ordered bossam (36,000 won) and the Soba Hansang set (17,000 won), which comes with half a pork cutlet and buckwheat soba. The generous bossam, springy soba noodles and neat side dishes were all satisfying. Nagwon-ui Soba has well-planned single-person sets for solo diners and roomy seating for group meals.

I can't be the only one who agonizes over what to eat when looking for a meal near Chungmuro Station, right? This time, after some debate, I headed back to Nagwon-ui Soba in Chungmuro, where I'd had such a happy meal last time.
Last time I was really satisfied with the clean Japanese-style soba and the bossam, and the lineup is so good that it's popular with office workers around Chungmuro Station and Dongguk University students too.
Where is Nagwon-ui Soba, and what are the parking and atmosphere like?
Nagwon-ui Soba is on the 2nd floor of a building on Seoae-ro, near Chungmuro Station and Dongguk University, and parking is easy if you use a nearby public lot. I liked it from the sign onward, which looks really clean.

There's a public parking lot nearby, so parking was convenient too.

The restaurant is bright and pleasant, and the seats are spaced quite far apart, so it's comfortable to eat in. On top of that, there are plenty of tables, enough for a group, so it works well for company dinners or get-togethers.

Can you eat solo at Nagwon-ui Soba? What we ordered and prices
Nagwon-ui Soba has both set menus and solo menus, so it's good for eating alone. This time we ordered the bossam (₩36,000) and the Soba Hansang (₩17,000). Pretty reasonable prices, right?

Side dishes with a Korean fine-dining feel
The side dishes came out first, neatly arranged, and I thought you could bring older relatives here with no worries. The tableware has an upscale hanjeongsik (Korean set meal) restaurant feel, which put me in a good mood. Little touches like this really lift a meal, don't they?

Nagwon-ui Soba bossam at ₩36,000: portion and taste
The bossam portion was really big, and it looked delicious just sitting there.

The meat was a good thickness with a nice texture, and the balance of fat and lean was just right. Honestly, I don't think generous bossam portions are that common, so the amount at Nagwon-ui Soba in Chungmuro was another thing I was happy about.

It's boiled mild and clean with no gamey smell, so you don't tire of it, and the meat isn't dry but tender, so it's fine to share with a child too.

The side dishes were so good that eating them with the bossam made the savory flavor even better. Bossam has a taste that few people dislike, so if you're visiting with a group, definitely order it.

What's in the ₩17,000 Soba Hansang at Nagwon-ui Soba?
The Soba Hansang is a ₩17,000 set with half a pork cutlet and buckwheat soba. I enjoyed it last time, so I ordered it again, and it was just as good this time.

The cutlet was the textbook crispy outside, juicy inside, and the sauce is sweet and salty, so dipping it in made it even better. The Soba Hansang is a good order when one person wants to eat their fill, and when I visited, lots of other diners were having it.

Soba noodles, broth, and how they pair with bossam
The buckwheat soba noodles were springy with a great texture, and the broth was cool and mild, so it was delicious. Lightly dipping the noodles in the rich broth brought out even more savory flavor, so I kept eating it that way over and over.
Having soba alongside the bossam was a great match. The harmony of mild and cool kept me from getting tired of the food.
Final verdict on revisiting Nagwon-ui Soba in Chungmuro
This was my second visit to Nagwon-ui Soba, and it was still pleasant and the food neat and satisfying. If you want a hearty spread in a comfortable atmosphere, stop by this Chungmuro Station restaurant. The layout is good for solo diners too, so it's easy to drop in!
I left well fed again, and next time I plan to come back with my parents and try a wider variety of dishes!
