Korean date restaurant in Seochon with Inwangsan views: De Mitt

In short

De Mitt (드밑) is a hanok-style fusion Korean restaurant in a Seochon alley near Gyeongbokgung Station in Seoul. On a reserved late-autumn lunch visit, the writer looked around the terrace facing Inwangsan Mountain and tried, without alcohol, the snail doenjang risotto (25,000 won), grilled chicken neck with bok choy (18,000 won) and a seasonal namul salad (18,000 won). With well-judged seasoning and familiar ingredients reworked in new ways, De Mitt suits a quiet Seochon date.

Today I'm introducing De Mitt (드밑), a lovely Seochon Korean dining spot that's perfect for autumn weather :) You get hanok (traditional Korean house) vibes in a pretty tile-roofed house, plus a wide-open view of Inwangsan mountain that's honestly healing. It's a place where you can enjoy high-quality dishes that give familiar ingredients a fun new touch, together with alcohol ☺️

How do you get to De Mitt from Gyeongbokgung Station?

De Mitt is at 18-13 Jahamun-ro 5-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, about a 6-minute walk from Gyeongbokgung Station. It's open 11:00–22:50 from Friday to Wednesday, and 15:00–22:50 on Thursday.

It's tucked into a quiet Seochon alley, so it was a great spot to relax for a bit away from the busy weekend crowds.

Even the walk there was so Korean and charmingly pretty that it felt like a perfect Seochon date course.

What are the interior and the Inwangsan view terrace like?

De Mitt is a Seochon Korean dining restaurant serving fusion Korean dishes that add modern cooking methods to traditional Korean food. I made a reservation in advance this time!

The warm interior blends clean wood tones with ivory, and it felt very modern yet strongly Korean in character ☺️

There's a balcony-like terrace where you can see the scenery outside, so I took a few photos. Getting that chest-opening feeling, so unlike the crowded city, right in a Seochon alley by Gyeongbokgung Station..! I almost regretted not coming sooner 🥹

It was a day with a beautiful blue autumn sky and a gentle breeze~ and since we went for a late lunch, it wasn't crowded, so we could chat and eat in peace. De Mitt is a Seochon date restaurant with real atmosphere.

De Mitt's menu and lunch hours

You view the menu and order directly on the tablet menu (Pay Here) at your table. It's mostly fusion Korean dishes that work both as drinking snacks and as meals. The lunch menu is available on weekdays and weekends, but only during lunch hours until 2 PM, so plan your visit around when you want to eat :)

List of De Mitt's fusion Korean meal dishes

The menu was quite varied, from carb dishes good for a meal, like risotto, oksimi (rice-flour dumplings), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and noodles, to all kinds of meat dishes and soups.

The drinks and alcohol list was varied too. I wanted a glass of makgeolli (Korean rice wine) that day, but I wasn't feeling well, so I ate with a plain mouth(?), which was honestly the only disappointment of this Seochon date..!

What we ordered at De Mitt and the prices

Spread of fusion Korean dishes ordered at De Mitt
  • Snail doenjang risotto ₩25,000
  • Grilled chicken neck with bok choy ₩18,000
  • Seasonal namul salad ₩18,000

How does the snail doenjang risotto taste?

The first dish out was the snail doenjang (fermented soybean paste) risotto (₩25,000). It gave off a nutty aroma that made me hungry right away, a real appetite-teasing smell, hehe.

With cheese sprinkled on top and loads of snails inside, it looked hearty just by sight. The portion isn't huge for a full meal, but it felt just right to share alongside a drink.

I especially liked the chewy, bouncy bite from the barley mixed in. Since it's a dish meant to go with drinks, it was moderately salty, with a kind of miso-and-butter feel. Familiar yet new, a young take on Korean food, and totally my taste *.*

The snail meat had a great texture too! It's a risotto that anyone, of any age, would enjoy.

De Mitt grilled chicken neck with pickled bok choy

How is the grilled chicken neck with bok choy?

Next came De Mitt's grilled chicken neck with bok choy (₩18,000), a combination where the bok choy is pickled, which makes it more refreshing.

Grilled chicken neck with shredded scallion and bok choy

The chicken neck was crisp outside and chewy inside, clean and tasty without any strong seasoning, and with the shredded scallion and bok choy it was a perfect match *.*

There weren't many reviews of this dish, so I hesitated a bit, but overall the seasoning at De Mitt was just right and each dish felt thoughtfully put together, so they were fun to eat >.<

Seasonal namul salad with melon and ricotta cheese

De Mitt's seasonal namul (seasoned greens) salad (₩18,000) comes with ricotta cheese and melon alongside a doenjang-based dressing. It seems like an appetizer but surprisingly came out last, and it was one of the most impressive dishes, taking something that could be predictable and making it feel so different, hehehe.

It's autumn, so melon isn't really in its tastiest season, but it was sweet, soft and delicious anyway. It had a fresh sweet-and-salty balance that works as either a dessert or an appetizer! 💞

Ask for pickles separately

When I asked De Mitt for pickles separately, they gave me cabbage pickles, and with them, things like the risotto definitely went down more easily! If you're having this as a meal, I especially recommend eating them together 😁
