Songpa gopchang restaurant with a 6,000-won noodle finish: Jinseong

In short

Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch is a hanwoo beef gopchang (beef intestine) restaurant in the Bangi-dong food alley in Songpa, Seoul, 603m from Jamsil Station Exit 10. A Sunday visit at 6:30pm meant only a 5-minute wait, then two portions of hanwoo gopchang (38,000 won), one portion of hanwoo daechang (19,000 won) and a bowl of anchovy-broth noodles (6,000 won), all served with house-made green onion kimchi, gat kimchi and altari radish kimchi plus a pickled minari garlic sauce. The three kimchis cut the richness, so the gopchang and daechang keep going down easily at Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang.

Hi, I'm Bapdeok, and rice is my favorite thing 🍚 Today's post is about Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi Direct Branch, a well-known spot in the Bangi-dong food alley 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 It's a beef gopchang (tripe) place that comes with house-made green onion kimchi, gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), and altari radish kimchi, so you can eat all the way through without getting sick of it! They even have jangchi guksu (feast noodles) that pairs perfectly with the kimchi, and it was so good 🍜

Sunday 6:30pm: only a 5-minute wait

일요일 저녁 진성한우곱창 방이직영점 내부

I visited around 6:30pm on a Sunday and waited about 5 minutes before getting in! There was one team ahead of me so I thought it'd take longer, but the turnover seemed faster than expected 😮

Menu board listing gopchang, daechang, and makchang

As always, a good restaurant's menu is short •• Straight to the point: gopchang, daechang, makchang, plus kkakdugi yangbap and jangchi guksu

Side dishes: three house-made kimchis and pickled minari garlic sauce

Three house-made kimchis: green onion, gat, and altari radish kimchi

The three house-made kimchis come out first: green onion kimchi, gat kimchi, and altari radish kimchi. The green onion kimchi was fermented just right, and I was so happy to see gat kimchi, one of my favorites 🥬 A total banchan (side dish) hotspot ••

They also sell the green onion kimchi to take home, and apparently all the ingredients are domestic, so if it suits your taste, it might be worth packing some to go 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍

Small dish of minari garlic sauce

This is the minari garlic sauce ~! A secret sauce made with minced garlic, chili, and minari (water dropwort) — whatever you dip in it tastes clean and delicious 🥣 It's a tangy soy sauce rather than a salty one, which pairs even better with gopchang ︎︎︎♥︎

Steamed egg custard served as a complimentary side

Steamed egg comes as a basic side?! Bubbling hot, soft, fluffy egg custard. For an egg addict like me, free egg custard is honestly touching

Soft and jiggly, easily scooped up with a spoon 🥚︎︎︎♥︎

Staff grill the hanwoo gopchang and daechang on a timer

Hanwoo gopchang set on the grill for the first pass

I was so curious how the famous Bangi-dong beef gopchang would turn out •• This is how they set it up when you first order

Grill with a timer set for the gopchang

They set a timer and leave; when it goes off, they come back to flip and cut it for you!

They grilled the green onion kimchi alongside it too! Green onion kimchi grilled in beef fat was a real treat ••

Once it's all grilled, it looks this beautiful — gopchang that clearly looks crispy outside, tender inside •• ︎︎︎♥︎

Plump grilled hanwoo daechang

The daechang was totally plump ♡𓂃⋆ so thick and round it got me excited 🥹

Terra and Chamisul somaek paired with gopchang

Rich beef gopchang calls for somaek (beer-soju mix), of course. My combo was Terra with Chamisul. The soju came out with a frosted, icy surface ..! haha Cold icy soju is the best

A plump, fatty piece of grilled daechang

The daechang was genuinely so plump ‧₊˚✩˚₊‧ fat pouring out like fuel, it's been a while since I've had this much

Cross-section of hanwoo gopchang full of gop

The gopchang had a lot of gop (fat/marrow) too, bursting in my mouth with every bite 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍

Gopchang served on top of green onion kimchi
Gopchang dipped in minari garlic sauce

Gopchang was great eaten with the green onion kimchi, and also dunked deep in the minari garlic sauce with vegetables — refreshing and it all went so well together!

Potatoes and rice cake grilled in beef fat

You know potatoes and rice cake grilled in beef fat are a must ••

The finish: 6,000-won anchovy noodles (janchi guksu)

Jangchi guksu topped with fried tofu and egg

Honestly, I wondered why the menu had jangchi guksu instead of ramyeon, but the moment I tasted the kimchis, jangchi guksu suddenly sounded perfect 😂 I ordered it right away — loaded with fried tofu and egg, plus seaweed flakes, carrots, and green onion on top. So refreshing and good

A bowl of jangchi guksu eaten alongside kimchi

The jangchi guksu was best eaten alongside the kimchi! 🍜 With the hot broth and the beef fat flavor sliding right down, I'd recommend it as a meal-ending dish ︎︎︎♥︎

Is Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang in Bangi-dong worth it?

🍚 There are so many great restaurants in the Bangi-dong food alley, but if you're looking for proper hanwoo gopchang, I recommend Jinseong Hanwoo! There's enough of a crowd that you'll wait, but the turnover is faster than expected so you get in quickly. The biggest highlight is the three house-made kimchis and the minari garlic sauce! They cut through the richness so well that the gopchang and daechang just kept going down, haha
