In short
Madam Hao (마담하오) is a Vietnamese restaurant on Woldeukeop-ro in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, near the Woncheon Jugong Apartments and Ajou University. For lunch, the writer ordered two of Madam Hao's popular dishes: bun cha (grilled pork with rice noodles, 13,000 won), served in four sections of vegetables, charcoal-grilled pork, nuoc mam (fish sauce) dipping sauce and noodles, and banh cut (4 pieces for 10,000 won), a pancake-like bite topped with minced meat and shrimp. Where is Madam Hao in Suwon?
Madam Hao (마담하오) is a Vietnamese restaurant on Woldeukeop-ro in Yeongtong-gu, Suwon. It's located near the Woncheon Jugong apartments.
What do Madam Hao's exterior and resort-style interior look like?
The exterior of Madam Hao feels a bit like arriving at a resort. From the nature-friendly props to the interior design, it looks really upscale while giving off a subtle resort vibe. That made me even more excited to try it.

This is what the inside looks like. The ceiling is open all the way up, so it feels airy and spacious, and the warm lighting makes it feel cozy overall. The tables are spaced comfortably, and the kitchen is half-open, so it seems cleanly and hygienically kept.

Something like this! Lots of wood is used, tables included, and the whole place has a warm feeling.

The lighting, the picture frames and so on all feel sentimental. A bit of a resort feel.

How do you eat banh cut at Madam Hao?
The tables at Madam Hao have a sign explaining how to enjoy bun cha, cha ca la vong and banh cut. It has a sort of "made by AI" feel, haha, and cha ca la vong was honestly very unfamiliar to me.

Since I ordered banh cut, I checked the recommended way to eat it.
- Prepare one sheet of rice paper
- Put lettuce, cucumber and cilantro on top
- Place one banh cut (or one split in half) on it and roll it up
- Dip it generously in the sweet-and-sour nuoc mam sauce, which is said to be the tastiest way
Easy peasy~
Madam Hao menu and prices
The rice bowls at Madam Hao are ₩12,000–12,500, bun cha is ₩13,000, and the Madam Hao banh mi is ₩10,000. There are crispy chicken leg rice bowls and charcoal pork rib rice bowls, plus bun cha and the Madam Hao banh mi. Cha ca la vong is unfamiliar to me, and it's priced at ₩33,000.
Among the main dishes, there's pad thai at ₩12,500. Brisket pho is ₩11,000. The meat jjamppong noodles look like a fusion of jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and meat jjamppong, at ₩12,000. Bulgogi bibim noodles are ₩12,000, and beef bibim rice noodles are also ₩12,000.

Northern-style summer rolls are ₩9,000 for 4 pcs and ₩4,500 for 2. Banh cut is ₩10,000 for 4 and ₩15,000 for 6. Cha gio is ₩13,000 for 6 and ₩9,000 for 4.
The mango shrimp salad sounds novel, at ₩16,000. The mango beef salad is also ₩16,000, the shrimp grapefruit salad is ₩19,000, and the kataifi shrimp fritters are ₩10,000 for 4.
There are also drinking snacks: assorted fries, assorted sausages, fried chicken gizzards, seafood jjamppong soup, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and spicy braised pork ribs. Quite a variety of bar food.
How is Madam Hao's four-section bun cha served?
The bun cha at Madam Hao comes divided into four sections: vegetables, charcoal-grilled pork, nuoc mam sauce and noodles. Total resort feel. I'd never seen bun cha served like this, and it feels authentic to its homeland. It looked really stylish.

The charcoal pork has a subtle smoky aroma.

Honestly, this is good with whatever you dip it in.

How does Madam Hao's minced meat and shrimp banh cut taste?
Banh cut at Madam Hao is like a small pancake topped with minced meat and shrimp. This was my first time trying it too. It's like a pancake you wrap up and eat, and it was really novel.

In this region, cucumber seems to be used a lot. The pancake is topped with minced meat and shrimp. It's a pancake, but it's put together so you get plenty of protein too. Really novel.

So the two popular dishes at Madam Hao, bun cha and banh cut, are all set. These two alone already have such presence, radiating an overwhelming aura. Visually, they're really worth it.

I wrapped one the way the banh cut guide shows. Now roll it up and dip it in nuoc mam, and...?!

Wow, delicious. Banh cut isn't a common dish, but it's tasty. I admit it. I think I'll be thinking of Madam Hao every now and then.
