What is Daecheon Brewery?

Daecheon Brewery (대천브루어리) runs a craft beer brewery and a pizza pub together in Boryeong, so you can taste the town's signature craft beers right at the source. It was one of the most memorable stops of this Boryeong trip. After a full day of enjoying the sea at Daecheon Beach, we wanted tasty food and beer somewhere with a great atmosphere in the evening, and this was a really satisfying choice!

With its relaxed, holiday-resort mood, Daecheon Brewery is a place I'd happily recommend for any Daecheon itinerary or list of things to do in Boryeong.

Daecheon Brewery hours and parking

Daecheon Brewery is open from 12:00 to 22:00 and closed every Tuesday. On weekdays there's a break time from 15:00 to 17:00.

You can park in the private lot in front of the shop. You tend to be driving around a lot on a Boryeong trip, so it was nice to visit without worrying about parking.

Doesn't it look different from an ordinary beer pub, even from the outside? That holiday-resort feeling is a special atmosphere you only get while traveling! It was great for photos, and there are terrace seats outside too, which looked lovely for eating haha.

Is the inside of Daecheon Brewery spacious?

Stepping inside, the first thing I noticed was how wide and comfortable the space is. The holiday-style tables were my favorite part. Lots of families come, and it's great for couples on a date or for friends getting together too!

Are pets and non-alcoholic beer allowed at Daecheon Brewery?

Pets can come along if they're in a bag or carrier, which made me like the place even more. When you visit Boryeong, you'll end up searching for pet-friendly restaurants, and if you're looking for a pet-friendly spot in Boryeong, this is it.

There's also non-alcoholic beer, coffee and other drinks for people who can't drink because they're driving, so anyone can enjoy it without pressure. Being a brewery, you get really fresh draft beer on the spot, and that alone makes it a must-stop on a Daecheon trip.

Daecheon Brewery also has a gift set of 6 bottled beers. The most popular souvenir from a Boryeong trip is the Signature Collection, which includes 2 bottles each of Boryeong Mud Lager and Daecheon Golden Ale, and 1 bottle each of Wonsando IPA and Ocheon Porter. We wanted to enjoy it at home again, so we brought some bottles back too haha.

How does Manse Boryeong Rice Beer taste?

Brewed with Sanggwangmi, a Boryeong specialty Manse Boryeong rice, this beer was truly impressive. The first sip is refreshingly crisp, followed by a subtle nuttiness from the rice, which is the best! The grainy richness you'd find in makgeolli (Korean rice wine) flowed naturally into a banana-like fruity note.

It finishes cleanly with a faint bitterness and the sweetness of grain, and the balance was top-notch. It was the beer that suited my taste best!

Non-alcoholic Hannae Pale Ale: does it taste like real beer?

Hannae Pale Ale (non-alcoholic) is said to be made with Korean hops harvested in July, and I could hardly believe it was non-alcoholic. The hops' signature bitterness and grassy aroma fill your nose, followed naturally by the nuttiness of malt. Perhaps because it's made with the same craft beer method, it tastes clearly different from typical non-alcoholic beers!

Wonsando IPA was my husband's top pick

Wonsando IPA was the beer that impressed my husband most! From the first whiff, a sweet fruity aroma reminiscent of pineapple rises strongly, and then the typical IPA bitterness fills your mouth. The bitterness isn't overdone, and the balance between aroma and taste was really good.

The best match for beer: Daecheon Brewery pizza

The pizza was the perfect partner for the beer that day. Chewy thin dough topped with rich cheese, plenty of tomato sauce, salty pepperoni and spicy Vietnamese chili peppers all came together really well.

They say the handmade dough is cold-fermented for over 24 hours and baked in an Italian stone oven at over 300 degrees, and the dough really was delicious. Even I, who usually skip the pizza crust, finished every last bite haha.

Is Daecheon Brewery worth adding to a Daecheon itinerary?

Craft beer, pizza and atmosphere all satisfied us at Daecheon Brewery. Local craft beer you can only taste in Boryeong, plus a holiday-resort mood, made the trip even better. I confidently recommend it for a Daecheon itinerary, and if you're going with your partner, it's an even more satisfying place to visit in Boryeong.
