Is Gukjeyangsik good for an anniversary date in Hapjeong?

Gukjeyangsik (국제양식) is a brazier-grill place near Hapjeong Station where staff grill aged lamb ribs for you. I'd go back! Recommended if you're looking for a Hapjeong anniversary dinner, a restaurant with good atmosphere, or a Hapjeong lamb spot.

I was trying to figure out a date course near Hapjeong Station and wanted somewhere with a nice mood, so I'm introducing Gukjeyangsik, where we ended up. haha

The moment we walked in, the entrance was packed with autographs from celebrities, from director Jang Hang-jun to Bong Tae-gyu and Pisik Univ, and my trust in the food shot up. It really was delicious, too: a Hapjeong meat restaurant I'm glad I tried.

Gukjeyangsik is about a 4-minute walk from Hapjeong Station Exit 8 :) It's a nice course if you stop by Mecenatpolis Mall or Lotte Cinema first and then come for dinner. haha

Is there parking at Gukjeyangsik?

There's a restaurant-only outdoor parking lot behind the building. Tip: reverse in when you enter, and getting out will be much easier!

If there's no space or you're unsure about your car's size, ask the restaurant ahead of time. The staff will help, which makes this an easy Hapjeong restaurant to reach by car :) (The staff are really kind!!)

Gukjeyangsik atmosphere and seating

The restaurant stands out for its soft lighting and stylish interior :)

The entrance, with its walls full of celebrity signatures, already proves this is a hot spot in Mapo.

Thanks to the good ventilation, there was no worry about smoke and we could eat comfortably,

and with seating from bar tables to group seats, it looked good for two people or a big party. haha

The quiet atmosphere makes it easy to focus on conversation, and when you reserve they prepare a cute sheep-drawing sign and a neat table setting, so you really feel looked after. For details like this, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for an anniversary date spot in Seoul :)

Gukjeyangsik menu and prices

Gukjeyangsik has good-value sets starting from the ₩60,000 range for two.

• Signature Brazier Set: aged shoulder rack + aged lamb loin + tacos + tomato salsa + sour cream + fire-flavored bean sprout and vegetable stir-fry + grilling vegetables
• Premium Brazier Set: premium French rack + aged shoulder rack + tacos + tomato salsa + sour cream + fire-flavored bean sprout and vegetable stir-fry + grilling vegetables
• Brazier Jjamppong Set (spicy seafood noodle soup): aged shoulder rack + aged lamb loin + brazier jjamppong (or white jjamppong soup) + tacos + tomato salsa + sour cream + fire-flavored bean sprout and vegetable stir-fry + grilling vegetables

(⬆️ These are sets for 2–4 people, and the prices are really reasonable!!) There's also a Budweiser draft beer 2+1 event (before 5 p.m. or after 9 p.m.), so lamb with beer is easy,

and drinks the restaurant doesn't carry get free corkage (one bottle per table free, then ₩10,000 per extra bottle), which made it a top Hapjeong Station pub for drinkers. haha

How was the aged lamb at Gukjeyangsik?

Even though I'm picky about lamb, the aged lamb here had no gamey smell at all, which I remembered :) It was grilled just right and the meat was tender,

and the chew of the shoulder rack with the nutty fat of the lamb loin was pure art.✨

And with the meat, haha, a glass of Gukjeyangsik's plum wine (maesil wonju)~

The fire-flavored bean sprout and vegetable stir-fry and the grilling vegetables were nice to eat alongside, too. haha

Finishing with mala lamb fried rice and tacos

We ordered the lamb fried rice with the meat!! I'd been so curious about it, and it has a subtle mala (numbing spice) aroma with great savoriness. The bits of lamb you bite into here and there are the kicker :)

Even after stuffing ourselves with meat, vegetables and lamb fried rice,

there's no way I'd skip the tacos!! Finishing with tacos left me about to burst. (A lineup like this at this price! Patting my full belly, I promised myself I'd be back to Gukjeyangsik. >_<) A lamb place that so many celebrities have visited really is different. haha

Is Gukjeyangsik in Hapjeong worth a return visit?

If you're looking for a lamb restaurant in Seoul, definitely try Gukjeyangsik in Hapjeong. haha I was so happy to discover a new Hapjeong lamb spot this time, and it's a pub you won't regret!:)

Next time I'll come with friends, order a bit of everything and make sure to catch the events properly. haha
