Diet-friendly cold mul-hoe at a Yeoksam seafood restaurant: Sokcho
In short
Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch is a live sashimi and mul-hoe (cold raw fish soup) restaurant on Nonhyeon-ro near Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul. Dieting before a wedding, the writer skipped the set menus and ordered the half-and-half mul-hoe at 19,000 won with somyeon noodles added for 2,000 won, plus a halibut and mullet plate for two at 38,000 won — more than enough for two people. Right down to the last chilled cup of mul-hoe broth, Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch made a light meal out that still felt like a proper seafood dinner.

Hours at Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch, a sashimi restaurant near Yeoksam Station
Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch is a sashimi restaurant near Yeoksam Station, on the 1st floor of 337 Nonhyeon-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. It's open Monday 11:00–22:30, and Tuesday through Sunday 11:00–04:00.

The day I was meeting up with a friend after work~~ With the wedding coming up soon, heavy food was out of the question... so I figured sashimi counted as relatively light haha, and headed to Sokcho Ojingeo, a sashimi restaurant near Yeoksam Station!

There was even a panel out front saying that if you're dieting, sashimi is the answer lol. A high-protein, low-fat dish you can enjoy without guilt~~ Low in calories and rich in omega-3s, the ultimate food! It said halibut, rockfish, sea bream, and sea bass are the recommended picks if you're dieting!!!

Once inside, the place was really spacious, and even on a weekday it was packed with customers. Looked like a great spot for a work dinner too haha.
The menu at Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch: sashimi, mul-hoe, and set combos
The menu at Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch had a huge variety of seafood dishes — sashimi, mul-hoe, other seafood, and stews. Because of the diet, I skipped the set menus and picked halibut + mullet sashimi and half-and-half mul-hoe instead.

Sokcho Ojingeo had an amazing range of seafood — mullet, halibut, rockfish, mackerel, salmon, flounder sekoshi (thin-sliced with bones), flounder, seasonal raw fish, red sea bream, sea bass, striped bream, black porgy, and various combo platters. There was also flying fish roe cuttlefish sashimi, live squid sashimi, sea squirt, spoon worm, sea cucumber, live octopus, abalone, raw oysters, Guryongpo gwamegi (dried herring), seasonal seafood combos, seasonal mul-hoe combos, cuttlefish mul-hoe, half-and-half mul-hoe, and set menus that came with sashimi, fried food, seafood, spicy fish stew, squid sundae (stuffed squid), and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes). Normally I would've obviously gone for a set menu... but that day, with the diet in mind, I held back a bit and ordered the halibut + mullet sashimi with half-and-half mul-hoe!

Side dishes included squid/fish/shrimp/mixed fried platters, seafood pancake, tteokbokki, squid sundae, buttered shrimp, cheese-grilled scallops, buttered abalone, and salted mackerel from Andong. For meals and stews there was raw fish rice bowl, cuttlefish sashimi rice bowl, salmon sashimi rice bowl, raw fish sushi, salmon sushi, an Andong salted mackerel set, Sokcho pork cutlet, clam seafood ramyeon, fish bone spicy stew, dried pollock stew in a metal pot, whole rockfish stew, octopus hot pot, and East Sea whelk stew, plus some seasonal menu items~~

Basic table setting and corkage
On the table were glasses, chojang (vinegar chili sauce), and soy sauce!!

And then macaroni salad, white kimchi, lettuce wraps, wasabi, and ssamjang (dipping sauce) came out! haha

Corkage was available too — 10,000 won for wine, 20,000 won for sake, 30,000 won for whiskey.

You could add thin noodles to the mul-hoe, so I added those too. Having zero carbs at all would've felt a bit sad...ha.

And I also ordered the halibut + mullet set~ It would've been perfect with a drink, but... since I'm dieting, I went with a zero-calorie cola instead..!
Half-and-half mul-hoe 19,000 / +noodles 2,000 / Halibut + mullet (for two) 38,000
Halibut + mullet for two at 38,000 won — plenty for two people
The halibut + mullet for two at Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch was 38,000 won, and the portion was really generous for two people. Both the halibut and the mullet were delicious, with a springy, chewy texture.

The ordered mixed mul-hoe and halibut + mullet sashimi arrived~ Big portions and looked super delicious haha.

Fresh halibut + mullet sashimi~~

Tasting it, it really was chewy and delicious as expected~! Both the halibut and the mullet were so tasty lol.

Wrapped it up neatly in lettuce too haha. It was a serving for two people, and the portion was really generous! But it was so good we finished it all without leaving anything~~~
Half-and-half mul-hoe at 19,000 won plus 2,000 won for noodles, sipped as a cup mul-hoe
The half-and-half mul-hoe is 19,000 won and comes with both squid sashimi and raw fish sashimi mixed in. I added the noodles for 2,000 won, and the portion was totally generous.

Next up, the half-and-half mul-hoe! It had both squid sashimi and raw fish sashimi in it.

The noodle portion was seriously generous too... Put the noodles in, poured the mul-hoe into a paper cup, and slurped it down as a cup mul-hoe! Cold and refreshing, a real summer treat~~ It was such a great option for dining out while dieting lol. Sokcho Ojingeo Eosijang Yeoksam Branch, a great sashimi restaurant near Yeoksam Station — next time I'll go back once the diet is over haha.
