Gangnam has an overwhelming number of Korean BBQ restaurants, but among them there's one that hit my taste exactly right with its neat table setting and unique special-cut lineup 👀 It's Giun, a barbecue restaurant that just recently opened in Nonhyeon-dong.
Unlike a typical BBQ place that just sells samgyeopsal (pork belly) or mokssal (pork neck), Giun offers a variety of cuts and set combinations that felt really substantial and clean overall — very satisfying. I'd 100% go back, so let's get into the Giun review.
Where is Giun, and what are its hours and parking?
- 📍 Location: 1F 101-ho, 28 Hakdong-ro 2-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea
- 🕖 Hours: Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 16:00–23:00 / Weekends 12:00–22:00
- 🚗 Parking: Not available

Giun sits on a main street alley in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam-gu, so it's easy to get to. It's practically right in front of Nonhyeon Station Exit 3 — just walk a little from the exit toward the Yeongdong Market food street and you'll spot it easily haha. The exterior already has an upscale feel, so it caught my eye from far away.
Inside Giun: a room that suits wedding-invitation gatherings and dates

The moment I walked into Giun, I felt the modern, clean interior. The upscale decor and warm-toned lighting create a great atmosphere, pretty enough for group gatherings like wedding-invite dinners or company get-togethers, but also fitting for a date.

There were various seating options — tables for two, four, and larger groups — and the tables were wide, which made things really comfortable. The spacing between tables was generous too, so it was easy to chat comfortably 🫶🏻
Giun's menu and the side dishes that come with it

Aged pork cuts like galbi samgyeopsal, mokssal, and galmaegisal are the mains, and there are set menus with various cut combinations, which made it easy to choose haha. There were also several side dishes that go well with meat, like doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), sotbap (pot rice), fried rice, and naengmyeon (cold noodles).

The basic banchan that came out with the order was a neat spread that paired well with the meat and boosted its savory flavor ✨ Thick-grain salt, wasabi, wholegrain mustard, and other sauces that bring out the meat's natural flavor were laid out cleanly on the plate.
On top of that, they also served baek-kimchi (white kimchi), pa-jeori (scallion salad), pickled vegetables, and myeongi-namul (wild garlic leaves), and the combination with the meat was just the best ,,! They grilled the baek-kimchi together with the meat, and it was so delicious — the freshness really matched the meat.

What comes in the 59,000-won Sulgiun Set (500g)
✔️ Sulgiun Set, ₩59,000. It also includes an assorted vegetable plate, and you get to try a variety of cuts all at once, so the set felt really substantial!

Galbi samgyeopsal + hangjeongsal + gabrisal + assorted vegetables
That's the Sulgiun Set lineup, and the meat totaled 500g, which was plenty for two people to eat. Each cut had a noticeably different texture and meat aroma, so we could enjoy it without ever getting bored ☺️

Galbi samgyeopsal: the best cut of the night at Giun
The first thing we tried was galbi samgyeopsal 🙌🏻 It's a signature cut where the savory aroma of the rib meat meets the nutty fat layer characteristic of samgyeopsal.

It was sliced thick, grilled crisp on the outside while keeping the juicy inside sealed in, so every bite was packed with juice — really delicious. Honestly my personal favorite ,, I'd love to come back next time and order the Giun Set, made entirely of 600g of galbi samgyeopsal. It was exactly my taste.

How to eat the pork at Giun at its best
One of Giun's strengths is that you can try meat in so many different ways 🤍 Everything was so good I couldn't pick just one, so definitely try the methods below for variety ~
- First bite of every cut: Himalayan pink salt
- 1. Grilled scallion + soy sauce
- 2. Wild garlic leaves + wasabi
- 3. Miso mustard + gungchae pickles
- 4. Lettuce salad + jeotgal (salted seafood)

Hangjeongsal (pork jowl) and the grilled vegetable plate
Next up is hangjeongsal (pork jowl)! It's the cut with the most intense savory fat flavor, and the more you chew, the softer the texture gets — clean, with no greasiness.

Not just the meat — the vegetables were also grilled really well, which made eating so easy. The vegetables, browned on the grill while soaking up just the right amount of meat fat, were perfect to eat alongside the meat.

Gabrisal (pork collar)
Last is gabrisal. Gabrisal is a cut from the pork loin's overlapping layer, with a memorable balance of moderate fattiness and a chewy texture. It's clean-tasting yet gets nuttier the more you chew, so it went great with raw wasabi or salt.
Would I go back to Giun in Gangnam?

Thanks to the neat side dishes and the great condition of the meat, I was happy the whole time eating. This time's Sulgiun Set — from the rich juiciness of the galbi samgyeopsal, to the chewiness of the gabrisal, the nuttiness of the hangjeongsal, and even the grilled assorted vegetables — let me enjoy the full range of textures across special pork cuts, and I was very satisfied 🫠
If you're looking for a pork BBQ spot near Gangnam with both genuinely good meat and an upscale atmosphere, I highly recommend Giun ~!
