Daegu raw beef spot: mungtigi and odeuregi combo at Yukwaehan Mungtigi
In short
Yukwaehan Mungtigi Daegu Main Branch is a raw beef restaurant near Seobujeongnyujang Station in Dalseo, Daegu, serving mungtigi (thick-cut raw beef sashimi) and yangji odeuregi. Two people ordered the medium mungtigi and yangji odeuregi combo for 65,000 won, and with the generous free side dishes and beef soup it was enough for three. The weekend-aged mungtigi was a little less chewy but still sticky and well seasoned, and the price and station access make Yukwaehan Mungtigi a solid choice for a group dinner in Dalseo.

Mungtigi near Seobujeongnyujang Station: Yukwaehan Mungtigi Daegu Main Branch
Yukwaehan Mungtigi Daegu Main Branch (유쾌한뭉티기 대구본점) specializes in mungtigi and yangji odeuregi, and it's in the Duryu area of Dalseo-gu, Daegu, close to Seobujeongnyujang Station. I found it by searching for the best mungtigi in Daegu. It sells a set that's reasonably priced for two people and is open on weekends too, so I gave it a try.
If you come to Daegu, you have to eat mungtigi (raw beef sashimi)! I came out to Duryu, got off at Seobujeongnyujang Station, and headed to Yukwaehan Mungtigi, a famous spot for mungtigi and odeuregi!

Yukwaehan Mungtigi Daegu Main Branch

What are the atmosphere and seating like at Yukwaehan Mungtigi?
The restaurant has an old-school feel but is also clean, and there are several rooms, so there were quite a lot of seats. Once the evening came around after we sat down, it filled up completely.

Yukwaehan Mungtigi menu and prices (medium size)
The menu has single dishes and combos, from mungtigi to yukhoe (beef tartare) to yangji odeuregi. Sizes are medium and large, and the hot pot dishes come in one size. Prices for the medium size are below.
- Yuksashimi (mungtigi) ₩45,000
- Yukhoe ₩40,000
- Yukhoe assortment ₩55,000
- Yangji odeuregi ₩40,000
- Mungtigi and yangji odeuregi combo ₩65,000
There are plenty of side menu items too, like sushi, bibimbap and even ramen! You can order more if you're still hungry. We wanted both mungtigi and odeuregi, so we ordered the mungtigi combo in medium!

It's not on the menu, but they seemed to sell chadol (brisket) sashimi as an extra too.

Wet wipes, cups and soju glasses were stored under the table. I wondered where they were at first, haha. They were right here!

How are the free side dishes and beef soup at Yukwaehan Mungtigi?
The free side dishes were seriously generous, so much that the table ran out of space: tofu kimchi, corn, japchae (glass noodle stir-fry), silkworm pupae, perilla leaf pickles, and a soup full of meat. Even before the mungtigi arrived, this combo alone was enough to drink with!

The soup was refreshing and perfect with soju. It had a fair amount of beef in it, and as a warm radish soup it felt great for the stomach.

We started with a somaek (soju and beer mix). I wondered if there'd be a soju only found in Daegu, but there wasn't, so we ordered Saero and Terra!

Mungtigi dipping sauce and yangji odeuregi taste
The dipping sauce for the mungtigi was nutty and delicious too. Even if you pile on that clump of spicy chili powder, it isn't as hot as you'd think and it cuts the richness. They brought us more when we asked, so we refilled, haha.

Yangji odeuregi!! Tender, fatty meat like chadol and chewy odeuregi (cartilage), what's not to love. The fried garlic was wonderfully nutty, and paper underneath soaked up the oil so it didn't feel greasy. Alternating a piece of fresh mungtigi with odeuregi, we could keep eating without getting sick of it.

Weekend-aged mungtigi: how was the texture?
It was the weekend, so they served aged mungtigi, which they say is a bit more tender! It was bright red and looked fresh and chewy.

A table spread so full the legs could break. In terms of quantity, it was honestly enough for three people! The tofu kimchi went well with the stir-fried kimchi and tofu, and if it got too spicy, there was corn! A spread you can drink through in no time, and just looking at it made me feel full.
You've got to flip the mungtigi over like this, right? I worried it might fall off since it was aged, but it didn't, it stuck there firmly!

It was so sticky it wouldn't fall off. Mungtigi and odeuregi are both real protein, so you won't get drunk or gain weight (or so I'd like to believe, haha).

Dipped in plenty of sauce, the aged mungtigi was a little less chewy, but still very satisfying.

Is Yukwaehan Mungtigi a good group dinner spot in Dalseo, Daegu?
On the day we visited, the meat had run out and they were closing at 9 pm, so all the seats were empty! The place was pleasant and the raw beef was delicious, so we were happy. It's near the subway station and cheap, so it seems like a good place for a group dinner in Dalseo-gu.
