Dog-friendly café in Dobong, Seoul: small-dog rules at Uisagye
In short
Uisagye (우이사계) is a chimney bread café at 178 Uicheon-ro, Dobong-gu, Seoul, set in a renovated 50-year-old red brick house whose big windows frame the Uicheon stream. The writer found Uisagye on a walk along the Uicheon and arrived late, when the popular chimney bread (5,500–6,000 won) had already sold out, but still checked out the hanok-style 1st floor, the 2nd-floor terrace view and the rules for small dogs up to 10kg. If chimney bread is the goal, visit Uisagye early in the afternoon and avoid Wednesdays.

What kind of café is Uisagye?
Uisagye (우이사계) is a chimney bread café at 178 Uicheon-ro, Dobong-gu, Seoul, right next to the Uicheon stream. It's a 50-year-old red brick house that was reborn embracing the stream.
I found it while walking along Uicheon, and it was really hard to walk past. Hidden spots like this when you're hunting for cafés in Changdong are the real charm of Seoul. I found it on a Dobong dessert crawl, and I'm totally planning a return visit.

What is Uisagye's hanok-style 1st floor like?
The 1st floor of Uisagye feels like a cozy hanok (traditional Korean house), with books on hand. The moment I stepped in, it felt like visiting a relative's old family home.
With sunlight pouring through the big windows and the breeze off Uicheon, I just wanted to park myself on the outdoor terrace. There are books on the 1st floor too, so grabbing one and settling in is pure healing.

The Uicheon stream view through Uisagye's big windows
Through the big windows of Uisagye, the Uicheon scenery unfolds just as it is. They say spring brings light yellow-green, summer a sparkling green, autumn colorful foliage, and winter a quiet snowscape right into the window.
In the season I visited, the mood outside the window over Uicheon was lovely. Eating chimney bread while looking at this view is the heart of this café.

Uisagye's 2nd floor and terrace: where you can sit with your dog
Uisagye has a 2nd floor too. The 1st floor is a cozy hanok-style space, while the 2nd floor connects to the terrace, where the Uicheon view opens up even more.
With pets, only the 2nd floor and terrace are available, so if you're bringing a dog, keep that in mind.

If you're looking for a Dobong dessert spot, or planning a Changdong café route, definitely put Uisagye on it. The fact that a 50-year-old space can be reborn this beautifully is what makes you want to sit for a long time. They say it shows a different view each season, and I'd love to come back next season too.

When should you go to get Uisagye's chimney bread?
I recommend going early in the afternoon. Since I visited late, the popular chimney breads were already sold out T_T
If you're coming for the Uicheon chimney bread, come early in the afternoon. And please note that Wednesday is a no-chimney-bread day!

Uisagye drink menu
Uisagye has a good variety of drinks too. There are coffees and seasonal drinks, so pairing one with chimney bread is just right. For drink prices, I recommend checking the menu on Naver Map before you visit.
