I was trying to figure out what to eat with a friend near Anguk, and ended up at Concasse Anguk (콩카세 안국), a fusion restaurant near Anguk Station with a great atmosphere. We ordered gnocchi and salad for a light meal that day — let me walk you through the vibe and the menu :)

A hanok exterior that fits the Anguk neighborhood
The atmosphere at Concasse Anguk was great from the outside — it's a space built into a restored hanok (traditional Korean house), so it really matches the distinctive feel of the Anguk neighborhood. I was excited just walking up to it haha. If you're looking for a restaurant near Anguk Station where atmosphere matters as much as the food, you'll probably love this one!

There's a menu board set up outside the restaurant, so you can browse what's on offer before going in. You can even check the prices, which is nice if you're just passing by and curious enough to stop in.

Inside Concasse Anguk: group tables and a long bar counter
Stepping inside felt totally different from the exterior! There's group seating right away that's great for larger parties.

In the middle, there's a huge bar counter, and further in there are tables with a really nice atmosphere too.

The whole space is really pretty, so it seems great not just for dates but for visiting with a group too.

If you want a good seat, it might be worth reserving ahead haha.

The fusion menu, from soy-marinated crab pasta to beef Wellington
Looking at the menu, you can really feel Concasse's fusion identity. There's the basic green salad and mushroom soup, bread of the day with butter and stir-fried anchovies, soy crab pasta, vongole squid ink pasta, potato gnocchi, wasabi pasta, and kim mackerel pasta!

There's also abalone soft tofu risotto, lasagna, chicken roulade with doenjang (soybean paste) risotto, and Beef Wellington, plus caramel pudding for dessert. There were a lot of dishes that put Korean ingredients into familiar Western dishes, so it was fun just browsing. We wanted something light rather than heavy that day, so we settled on the green salad and potato gnocchi!

Green salad, 12,000 won: fresh greens under fried lotus root
Green salad ₩12,000, potato gnocchi ₩19,000. After a short wait, both dishes came out quickly. The plating on both was so pretty that they caught my eye the moment they arrived.

We started with the green salad — a mix of greens with crunchy croutons and a tangy, yogurt-like dressing. It was fresh overall, a good way to wake up the palate before the gnocchi.

Honestly the plating was so pretty it almost felt like a shame to eat lol. It came topped with crispy fried lotus root, which actually paired really well with the salad!

Potato gnocchi, 19,000 won: poached egg stirred into rich cream sauce
Next was the potato gnocchi I'd been looking forward to! The gnocchi sat on top of a rich cream sauce, and there was black gnocchi too, so the look alone was unique. The cream sauce looked so thick that I could tell it'd be good before even taking a bite haha.

There was a poached egg sitting right in the middle — you burst it and mix it into the sauce. With the yolk stirred in, the cream sauce got even smoother and nuttier, perfect with the gnocchi!

And the gnocchi itself was genuinely delicious! Chewy on the outside, soft on the inside, it basically disappeared in my mouth lol. Coated in that rich cream sauce, it was nutty and soft, and I kept reaching for more. Alternating with the fresh green salad made for a great combo!
Is Concasse Anguk worth it for a light meal near Anguk Station?
Concasse Anguk was gorgeous from the hanok exterior on! This time we kept it light with just the green salad and potato gnocchi, and the combination worked well — especially that chewy, soft gnocchi, which left me satisfied haha. Looking at the menu, there are a lot of fusion dishes I'm curious about, so next time I want to try the pasta or risotto too. If you're looking for a restaurant near Anguk Station with a great atmosphere, this is a good pick for a date or a catch-up with friends :)
