Okgil-dong, Bucheon duck restaurant for a rainy-day date: Keunsawi
In short
Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch is a duck restaurant in Okgil-dong, Bucheon, near Starfield Bucheon, that serves duck as a Korean set-meal course. On a rainy day the writer and her boyfriend shared the Keunsawi Special Course for 2: perilla baeksuk (whole chicken soup), cypress-steamed duck, duck dori-tang (braised duck stew), tricolor fried rice and unlimited gondre shiitake rice, plus an omega-3 supplement after the meal. The top pick at Keunsawi Ori Jip was the duck dori-tang, which grows richer the longer it simmers, and the writer is 100% planning to return.

What is Keunsawi Ori Jip in Okgil-dong, Bucheon?
Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch (큰사위오리집) is a duck restaurant near Starfield Bucheon, where you can try all kinds of duck dishes in a hearty Korean set-meal course 🤍 Unlimited gondre rice (thistle-leaf rice) with shiitake mushrooms, freshly cooked with Sindongjin rice, made me really happy.
There's also a big private parking lot, so it's a good place to bring your parents, and it's popular for company dinners and family gatherings too. Let's start the review ❣️

Keunsawi Ori Jip location, parking and opening hours
The restaurant is close to Starfield Bucheon, so it's really easy to get to! There's a private parking lot in front, so we could visit without worrying about parking.
- Address: 57-10 Yeondong-ro, Sosa-gu, Bucheon, Gyeonggi
- Hours: daily 11:00 - 21:30
- Break time: 15:30 - 16:30
- Parking: private lot in front of the building
Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how spacious and pleasant it is! The big picture windows meant it felt bright and airy even though we came on a rainy day.

The story goes that the restaurant started when the eldest son-in-law (큰사위) tasted the duck dori-tang (spicy duck stew) his mother-in-law made and wanted to share that flavor and warmth with more people. Knowing that made me look forward to the food even more haha.

What's in the Keunsawi Special Course for 2?
The two of us ordered the Keunsawi Special Course for 2, the restaurant's signature menu ✨ Each table has a kiosk, so ordering was easy.
- Perilla baeksuk (chicken stew with perilla seed broth)
- Steamed duck on cypress (oribyeonbaekjjim)
- Duck dori-tang
- Vegetable and rice cake add-ins
- Tricolor fried rice
And here's the surprise! They gave us one omega-3 supplement each. The notice said it's provided so the nutrients in duck are absorbed well by the body. I was touched by how carefully they pay attention to the little details 👍🏻

Everything was set out quickly all at once: basic side dishes like perilla leaves, chili peppers, ssamjang, garlic and pickled radish wraps, plus the add-ins for the dori-tang and the ingredients for the fried rice at the end.
Next came the steamed duck on cypress! 🍃 It comes with a timer too, so you can enjoy it at exactly the tastiest moment.

What's at the Keunsawi Ori Jip self-serve bar?
At the self-serve bar you can freely take side dishes and sauces, gondre shiitake rice, soy seasoning sauce, sesame oil and the "mother-in-law's" geotjeori (fresh, unfermented kimchi). While the steamed duck cooks, you can fetch what you need or get your rice ready, so the time is well spent!

Next to the bar, the gondre shiitake rice was cooking nicely in the rice cooker. Freshly cooked gondre rice, soy seasoning sauce and sesame oil pressed at a mill are all self-serve. My boyfriend and I both like gondre rice, so we piled our bowls high haha.

Next to it was the "mother-in-law's geotjeori" too. It looked so crunchy and fresh that I couldn't not take some 🫶🏻

How does the gondre shiitake rice taste?
Mixed with the soy seasoning sauce, the gondre shiitake rice was seasoned just right. While waiting for the steamed duck, we tried the basic side dishes and gondre rice first. The rice was moist and well cooked with a lovely nutty flavor. It was so good on its own that I kept going back for more ㅠㅠ

What does the ungchu chicken perilla baeksuk taste like?
The perilla baeksuk is a thick, rich perilla broth with chewy ungchu chicken (웅추닭). They say they use only ungchu, roosters about 50 days old with firm, chewy meat. Even after long simmering, the meat doesn't turn dry or fall apart easily.
The chewy texture of the ungchu really comes through, and my boyfriend and I were both won over from the first bite 🩷 The rich nutty flavor and the chewiness were exactly our taste.
How are the portion and sauces of the steamed duck?
The steamed duck came loaded with bean sprouts and thinly sliced duck, and the portion was much more generous than I expected. Time to open it 🫧 The steam rose up the moment the lid came off, and the look of it alone made me gasp.
I picked up mild duck and crunchy sprouts together and dipped them alternately in chili sauce and peanut sauce! The sweet-and-sour chili sauce and the nutty peanut sauce each had their own charm and went well with the duck 🫶🏻
The main dish, duck dori-tang: why it gets better the longer it boils
The main menu, duck dori-tang, is a red broth stew packed with vegetables and duck. After finishing the steamed duck, we finally welcomed the dori-tang haha.

Just looking at it bubbling made my mouth water ㅠㅠ

The instructions say to keep the heat on and let it reduce, because the broth gets tastier the longer it boils! We kept boiling it as we ate, and as time went on the broth got deeper, with a richer taste and flavor.
It's pleasantly spicy with a deep savory richness, so I kept spooning up the broth ㅠ.ㅠ It made me want a drink, so I think it would go over well for family gatherings and company dinners too.

The duck pieces are big, so it's fun to take a big mouthful with the various add-ins 👀 Everything at Keunsawi was delicious, but the duck dori-tang was my number one pick 👍🏻 I really recommend trying it.

Fried rice to finish, and the omega-3 after the meal
The Special Course ends with fried rice stir-fried in the leftover dori-tang broth. The deep flavor of the broth soaked right into the rice, and it was really good to the very end ㅠㅠ I kept eating even though I was full. My boyfriend and I both left full and satisfied 🫶🏻

Taking the complimentary omega-3 made the end of the meal feel good. They take care of the details, service included, so I left very happy haha. Duck in Okgil-dong, Bucheon is so delicious! Keunsawi Ori Jip Bucheon Okgil Main Branch: 100% I'll be back.

If you're looking for a duck restaurant near Starfield Bucheon for a family gathering, company dinner or date, I recommend stopping by Keunsawi Ori Jip.
