Late-night Gangnam laptop café, double choco cookie: Selected Nicks

Selected Nicks in Gangnam is a big café that stays open late, in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, near Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station. It's great for studying and laptop work, so I keep going back and back and back✨ It's the Gangnam Station large café whose vibe I liked most, so I've visited several times! Here's my third visit review😽

Where is Selected Nicks in Gangnam?

Selected Nicks is on Teheran-ro 4-gil, about a 5-minute walk from Gangnam Station on Line 2 and the Shinbundang Line.

Walk past the outdoor terrace seats, nice for a drink when the weather is cool, and you reach the Selected Nicks entrance.

Selected Nicks has 30 seats on the rooftop, 22 on 8F, 58 on 3F, 43 on 2F, 34 on 1F and 40 on B1. Every floor except 1F reportedly closes 30 minutes early.

First, the entrance has several tiramisu models and a mirror.

1F desserts at Selected Nicks: financiers and madeleines at ₩4,500

On 1F, the desserts and sets on sale are on display.

If you want a dessert, just take it to the counter as the instructions say.

There's a range of bakery items: financiers (small French almond cakes), madeleines and cookies. The lineup is matcha choco financier, choco salty financier, classic financier, fig financier, lemon madeleine, double choco cookie, choco crunch madeleine and cookie brownie, all the same ₩4,500.

What tiramisu flavors does Selected Nicks have?

As you'd expect from a place famous for tiramisu, one side of 1F displays many kinds. The flavors are classic, banana, choco banana, pistachio, raspberry, strawberry, carrot and Dubai chewy. On an earlier visit I had the matcha one, but the menu seems to have changed and it's gone this time🥲

For gifting, there's nice packaging for 2-piece and 4-piece tiramisu, and the lollipops and assorted jellies were neatly packaged too.

Good to know: on weekdays at lunchtime (11:00–13:00), you can get a happy hour set at a discounted price!

Pick up your drink on 1F, grab a straw and napkins, and head to your seat. Water was set out on every floor.

Best outlet seats for laptop work at Selected Nicks Gangnam

What stood out on 2F was how bright it is, with white tones and big windows. Art pieces hang on the walls, so it feels like visiting an exhibition. On my first visit I sat in front of those paintings, and I remember chatting with a friend while looking at them🤗

On my second visit I sat at the long window seats on the right side of 2F. There are lots of outlets right in front, so it was great for laptop work.

3F is also very spacious and, with more black elements than 2F, feels calmer.

I saw mostly office workers on laptops or having quick meetings, and since the area is full of cram schools (hagwon), lots of students came to study too.

There are also tables like this, sunny and with an open view.

Every floor of Selected Nicks has plenty of seats with generous outlets, which makes it ideal for laptop users. On my third visit I sat at an outlet seat again, and being able to charge without feeling awkward was really useful✨

What can you see from the Selected Nicks rooftop?

Selected Nicks also has a spacious rooftop where you can enjoy the Gangnam city view of the forest of buildings. It has seats facing the downtown Gangnam skyline, and it's reportedly a popular photo spot, with a sunny feel by day and a night-view mood in the evening.

How do the iced Americano, vanilla bean latte and double choco cookie taste?

On this third visit to Selected Nicks, I ordered an iced Americano, a vanilla bean latte and a double choco cookie.

The iced Americano had light acidity with a subtle nutty richness. With the sweet cookie it cut the sweetness just right, so they paired well.

The vanilla bean latte was my companion's order; they said the gentle sweetness was nice and it went down clean.

The double choco cookie had both crispy and chewy parts. The chocolate flavor was rich but not overly sweet, just right for me. The chewy texture was really appealing, with a bit of crunch here and there, so I finished it in no time haha

Who should visit Selected Nicks Gangnam?

I recommend Selected Nicks to anyone looking for this kind of café near Gangnam Station in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

• A spacious, calm large café with lots of outlet seats

Selected Nicks has several exhibition-like spaces plus a rooftop with city and night views, so even if you're not there to study or work, it's a nice place to relax on a date or with friends.
