Why we chose Bomseol Gimpo for hanjeongsik in Gamjeong-dong

There are days when you just want to eat healthy Korean food with family. After looking around, we ended up at Bomseol Gimpo, which had built a reputation as a Gamjeong-dong hanjeongsik favorite.

Knowing the place carries the know-how of Yu Seung-yong, a Korean Culinary Master chef, raised our expectations even more. What made us most curious was how much the restaurant emphasizes healthy ingredients and a tidy table setting.

There was a spacious parking lot right in front of the restaurant, which made parking easy, and there were plenty of families visiting too — it was easy to see why the place is so popular.

Every table where food would be served was covered with a bansangbo (table cloth cover), and overall the hygiene management felt very thorough. The staff were kind, and the dishes were set out one by one with care, making us feel well looked after. These small, attentive touches explained why people call it a Gamjeong-dong hanjeongsik favorite.

A healthy Bomseol scallion bulgogi meal with 200g of beef per person

What we ordered this time was the Bomseol Pa Bulgogi set.

Bomseol Pa Bulgogi set with scallions piled high

The most surprising part was that each person gets 200g of beef bulgogi. The portion was truly generous.

On top of the bulgogi, fresh scallions and various vegetables were piled up like a tower — it looked appetizing just to see. As the broth simmered, the sweetness of the vegetables came out and deepened the flavor of the beef bulgogi. The seasoning wasn't overpowering — not too sweet, not too salty — the kind anyone could enjoy.

With every bite, the crunch of fresh vegetables paired perfectly with the tender beef, and my chopsticks kept going back for more. Personally, it was the most satisfying bulgogi I've had in a while.

Side dishes and a healthy table spread that felt thoughtfully made

The banchan (side dishes) that came with the Bomseol Gimpo set were impressive too. The various namul (seasoned vegetables), salads, and side dishes served in brass bowls looked neat and each one felt carefully prepared. They weren't overseasoned, so we could enjoy the natural flavor of the ingredients, and they paired well with the bulgogi.

Receiving such a tidy, wholesome spread made me feel healthier just eating it. The meal was comfortable throughout and the whole family was satisfied. In one corner of the restaurant, they also sell sesame oil and perilla oil — plenty of customers seemed to trust the taste enough to buy some after their meal.
