Gimpo rib restaurant, beef vs pork ribs dinner for two: Galbigumteo

Met up with a close friend for dinner after a while and we had some really good meat haha

The best part of meeting up as a pair is eating and chatting lol. This time we were craving ribs, so we went to Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch. We were looking for a place to eat meat in Pungmu-dong and ended up here — and long story short, we came home stuffed that day.

What kind of restaurant is Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch?

Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch is located at 133 Pungmu-ro, Gimpo. They say they use domestic pork and serve domestic pork ribs marinated in a house-made fruit and vegetable sauce.

What two people ordered, and how much

There were two of us, and it felt like a waste to only pick one menu item, so we decided to try a bit of everything.

We started with two servings of beef ribs, then got curious about the pork ribs partway through and added one serving of handmade domestic pork ribs plus one serving of king pork ribs. And at the end, bibim naengmyeon too... lol.

When I go to a meat restaurant, I care a lot about the meat, but I also secretly care a lot about the basic side dishes. These were good ones to have alongside the meat, and overall the flavor was solid, so I was happy with them.

Starting with the beef ribs

We grilled the beef ribs first. As soon as the meat hit the charcoal, that meaty smell started drifting up — from this point on, we were more focused on the meat than on talking lol.

Grilled until nicely browned, and one bite in you could feel the juiciness — cooking over charcoal really brings out the flavor. The beef ribs were delicious, but we didn't stop there.

The favorite: handmade domestic pork ribs

Everything we ate that day was good overall, but personally, the one I liked best was the handmade domestic pork ribs!

I already tend to like pork ribs, but this sauce wasn't just overly sweet in an in-your-face way — it went really well with the meat. Grilled over charcoal until slightly browned, you got the sweetness of the sauce along with the charcoal aroma at the same time, and I kept reaching for more!

We also tried the king pork ribs, and that was good too lol. Still, if I had to pick one favorite from that day, it would be the handmade domestic pork ribs haha.

How friendly the owner was

And what stuck with me as much as the food was how kind the owner was. It was a bit hot that day and we mentioned it, and the owner must have heard because he brought over a fan for us himself, and even opened the window.

Finishing with bibim naengmyeon

Even after eating that much meat, we couldn't skip the naengmyeon (cold noodles). You have to have the noodles to feel like the meal is truly finished.

When you want galbi in Pungmu-dong, Gimpo

That day, my close friend and I visited together and ate our way through beef ribs, handmade domestic pork ribs, king pork ribs, and bibim naengmyeon — quite thoroughly, if I do say so myself. Overall the meat was all delicious, but my personal favorite was the handmade domestic pork ribs, the basic side dishes were tasty too, and the owner was kind, so it was a place that felt good the entire meal.

Galbigumteo Pungmu Station Branch also has group seating and private rooms, so it's said to be a good fit for family dinners, gatherings, or work dinners too. If you're looking for a good meat restaurant in Pungmu-dong, out of everything I ate that day, I'd recommend the handmade domestic pork ribs.
