Why I stopped at Mellows for dessert near Seoulsup after lunch in Seongsu

After lunch in Seongsu, we strolled toward Seoulsup and stopped at a dessert café called Mellows. The prices were really cheap and the taste was great too, so I was thrilled. I'm not the only one who always craves dessert after a meal, right? haha That day I went looking for a good dessert café near Seoulsup. The weather was lovely, so we walked over and dropped into Mellows. Total good choice!

So so so cheap and tasty, I'm completely satisfied! A place like this should be spread far and wide until it gets famous, you know..!!!!

Is there seating inside Mellows?

Mellows looks small from outside, but there's plenty of room to sit inside, and the atmosphere was nice too.

From outside the shop didn't look big, so I wondered whether we could even eat inside. But once I stepped in, they'd clearly used the space well and there were plenty of seats. And the mood was good too..!!

Mellows menu and prices

Mellows is a coffee and soft serve specialty shop, with a menu running from a ₩2,500 americano up to ₩4,500 fruit soft serve.

• Coffee: americano ₩2,500, café latte ₩3,200, vanilla latte ₩3,500, decaf +₩300
• Non-coffee: chocolate latte ₩3,500, matcha latte ₩3,500
• Basic soft serve: milk ₩3,500, affogato ₩4,000, matcha ₩4,000, choco ₩4,000, peanut butter ₩4,000
• Fruit soft serve: peach ₩4,500, mango ₩4,500, strawberry ₩4,500

Really cheap, right?? I think it's the cheapest around Seongsu, Ttukseom and Seoulsup. Is this price for real... best value ever!!! But no matter how cheap, it's pointless if it doesn't taste good.

Why a person who can't really drink coffee chose ice cream

The truth is, I can't really drink coffee. Sweet coffee is fine, but I can't drink americano at all and I'm very picky about plain lattes.. I just can't drink the lattes at chain places like Mega Coffee, Paik's and Compose (names blurred out, you know the ones) ㅠ I'm a value-for-money person about everything else, but with coffee, the cheap places taste as cheap as they are... so I can't drink it.

Cheap places usually have that particular coffee taste I can't stomach. And seeing Mellows' prices, I doubted the taste too haha So I skipped coffee and ordered ice cream. I heard they use Sangha Farm (상하목장) ice cream, so it felt like a guaranteed hit. (Coffee review below!)

Anyway, I ordered the matcha soft serve. My niece and sisters got the peach soft serve, an affogato, a café latte and a vanilla latte! All five items together came to under ₩20,000, wow, crazy value.

How does the matcha soft serve at Mellows taste?

Mellows' matcha soft serve has a Sangha Farm ice cream base with a lively sweet-bitter green tea flavor, and it comes with chocolate balls and cereal underneath.

Sangha Farm ice cream is delicious on its own, so it can't taste bad, and the sweet-bitter green tea is so good too!

How were the peach soft serve and affogato?

Mellows' peach soft serve was generously topped with peach flesh, and the affogato was a success too.

There was so much peach flesh on the peach ice cream, honestly, does the owner even make a profit selling it like this....

The affogato was a success too! And that Roly-Poly cookie stick poked into each ice cream? Totally a bonus kick.

Is the ₩3,200 latte at Mellows as good as it is cheap?

I had no expectations for the café latte and vanilla latte at that low price, but even I, who am picky about coffee, found them rich and tasty. The way they slip a sleeve onto the paper cup instead of a cup holder was handy too.

I didn't order these myself, but I took a sip, and wow,,, so rich and delicious!!! Honestly the price is so low that I had no expectations, but it was unexpectedly really good!? Both the ice cream and coffee are such good value that I ate while worrying about the owner(?). A cool breeze was blowing too, so I really enjoyed the street-side café :)

Is Mellows a good budget dessert café near Seoulsup?

These days coffee and dessert prices are almost painfully high, so finding a tasty, good-value café like Mellows in Seongsu near Seoulsup felt like discovering a hidden gem!
