A while ago my friend and I were looking for a bar with a different kind of vibe, and we ended up at Doran Honsulbar Guro Digital Complex branch (도란 혼술바)! From the name you'd think it's a place to drink quietly alone, but there were lots of solo drinkers and lots of groups of friends too, so the mood was much more relaxed than I expected. They have card games and board games, so you end up chatting naturally even with people you've just met, which gives the place a unique charm! If you like a bar with something to enjoy beyond just drinking, I highly recommend it~~

Doran Honsulbar Guro Digital Complex branch is on the 2nd floor at 2-4 Jowon-ro 4-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, near Guro Digital Complex Station. It's open Monday to Thursday 20:00–04:00 and Friday to Sunday 19:00–04:00, and it's a no-kids zone. There are separate men's and women's restrooms, and a waiting area too.

The location is great for a quick drink after work, and just as easy for meeting a friend! It's not far from the station, so even though it was our first visit, the two of us found it without getting lost.

The exterior of Doran is neat and cozy. I'd assumed it would be a quiet, truly solo-drinking bar, but once inside it was brighter and more comfortable than I expected, so it was easy to walk in!😍 Some people came alone and quite a few came with friends, so it felt like anyone could enjoy it.

The waiting area even has comfy-looking sofas, so you can hang out and play there freely.

Doran has card games, board games and more, so it's fun to play with a friend, and depending on the situation, conversation with other guests can flow naturally too. I liked that it never felt forced and you could mingle comfortably.

Overall it's bright and lively without being overwhelming, so even on a first visit we settled in quickly! The lighting isn't harsh but soft, which made the mood even better.

At nice bars, cocktail prices can sometimes feel steep, but Doran is at a level where even several rounds aren't a big burden, which I liked. Thanks to that, my friend and I each had two drinks and took our time enjoying the evening. Also, outside food is allowed! And they say delivery is possible too haha

The first thing we ordered was Doran's Long Island iced tea (₩15,000)! As cocktail fans know, it's a drink that's surprisingly strong. Doran's version balanced fizz and sweetness nicely, so it was easier to drink than I expected. The alcohol didn't hit too hard, so I could enjoy it without worry, and every sip felt cool and refreshing.

Midori sour

The Midori sour (₩14,000) was the one my friend said was totally their taste! Midori's signature melon flavor was really appealing. It was sweet yet tangy, the kind of drink I think even cocktail beginners would like.

🥃 Suntory highball

For anyone who likes highballs, the Suntory highball (2 glasses ₩26,000) is a must! The fizz was lively and really refreshing, and the whiskey aroma came through just enough, so the balance was good. It isn't overly sweet, so even people who love their liquor should be satisfied, and I liked how cleanly it went down. At Doran you can have a highball made with any whiskey, and choose soda water, tonic water or ginger ale.
