Bar near Seonyudo Station with sunset window seats: Seonyu Icheung

On a weekend evening I went to Seonyu Icheung (선유이층), near Seonyudo Station, with my husband. Seonyudo is a place we have always liked to visit for a breath of fresh air. We thought it was time to go back after a while, so we looked for a good place to eat nearby and ended up here.

Where is Seonyu Icheung and what is the entrance like?

Seonyu Icheung is on the second floor of a building very close to Seonyudo Station, which is why the name means "Seonyu second floor." I found it by chance while searching for good places near Seonyudo Station. The food was decent, but what I remember most is the atmosphere.

You pass the ground-floor parking lot and go up the stairs, and the entrance appears with lots of cute little props. From the moment you step in, the mood is a bit different from an ordinary bar. It sits in a plain neighborhood, but inside it has a certain charm. The logo under soft lighting and the phrase "Enjoy elegance in coziness" seemed to sum up the concept well.

Everywhere along the entrance is quite stylish and full of character.

Can you see the sunset from the window seats at Seonyu Icheung?

The first thing I noticed inside was the floor-to-ceiling window. We arrived around sunset, so the sky outside was slowly turning red, and together with the view toward Seonyudo Park it was really atmospheric.

I think couples on a date would especially love the window seats. We sat there too ^^

There are also bar seats with whisky and a variety of other drinks on display, so it looked great for drinking alone or having a casual drink.

What is the Choo Sung-hoon Steak at Seonyu Icheung?

The Choo Sung-hoon Steak is the signature dish here: rice, corn and a big steak served together on a hot iron plate, and it was more satisfying than I expected. "Choo Sung-hoon Steak, what is that?" I wondered at first, but it turns out Choo Sung-hoon appeared on a TV show and created the menu item.

It caught my eye right away. The meat was thicker than I expected and still nicely juicy. I especially liked how the melting butter blended with the sauce. The sauce was sweet and salty, great with rice, and the corn added a different texture, so I never got tired of it until the end.

The meat was quite a bit bigger than it looked in photos, so it would work well as a drinking snack too, but we were a little hungry, so we had it as our meal.

The steak's texture and taste were both good, but the seasoning was really excellent. It whets the appetite.

Chicken Kanpungi, the snack that makes you want a drink

The Chicken Kanpungi (치킨칸풍기, crispy fried chicken in a sweet-spicy sauce) we ordered alongside was satisfying too. Crispy fried chicken was piled with chili peppers, bell pepper, shredded scallions and garlic chips, and just looking at it made me want a drink.

The sweet-spicy sauce coating wasn't greasy, and the crunch held up well. The garlic chips in particular added even more flavor. It's a great pick as a drinking snack.

It was very crispy and the kanpung sauce was great. The food here is really good.

On the wall along the way to the restroom, lots of photos taken by visitors with an instant photo printer were stuck up. I was heading to the restroom, saw all the photos on the wall, and that's how I found out.

One wall of the bar was covered with visitors' black-and-white photos, almost like a little gallery. We took one and added it too ^^

Why Seonyu Icheung is a great date spot near Seonyudo Station

Seonyu Icheung felt less like a place to just eat and more like a space to enjoy the atmosphere too. A floor-to-ceiling window with sunset views, stylish interiors, a variety of drinks, and tidy food as well.

I can see why so many people come back. We wanted to return too. If you're looking for a good place near Seonyudo Station or a date spot in Dangsan, it's worth a visit.

Walking to Seonyudo Park after dinner

After a hearty meal, we headed straight to Seonyudo Park to enjoy the sunset and the night view. It's not far to walk from Seonyu Icheung to Seonyudo Park, so it's easy to take a stroll after eating.
