Sinnonhyeon café after gyukatsu, mango cake: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a large three-floor dessert café between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. After a gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) meal near Sinnonhyeon Station, the writer and her boyfriend walked over and ordered a matcha choco latte, green tangerine ade, mango fresh cream cake and choco pudding cookie. The cake piled with fresh mango and the rich, fudgy choco pudding cookie were the highlights. Something About Coffee is a comfortable Gangnam dessert café for both dates and laptop work.

Today my boyfriend and I had delicious gyukatsu (breaded beef cutlet) near Sinnonhyeon Station, then wandered around Gangnam to walk it off and stumbled on a café with a great vibe. If you're looking for a café near Gangnam Station or Sinnonhyeon Station, I really hope you'll visit this one: Something About Coffee!

A big three-floor café, with a different mood on every floor
Something About Coffee is a large three-floor café, so the sense of space really hits you the moment you walk in! Each floor has its own mood, which makes it such a charming Gangnam Station café 🤍

Since the mood shifts a little from floor to floor, it's fun to pick the seat that suits you. There are cozy spots for a good chat, and seats set up for spending quiet time alone.

Terrace and 2–4 person seats, good for dates too
There's a terrace as well, so on a nice day it looks perfect for a coffee with the breeze on your face! I bet the terrace seats are popular in the cooler seasons.

Most seats are for 2–4 people, so it's great as a date spot and looked comfortable for chatting with friends too.

Can you work on a laptop at Something About Coffee?
I spotted seats with outlets, and the music isn't loud, so the atmosphere suits laptop work. When I visited, lots of people were using laptops. The overall vibe was calm and relaxed, so it looked good for homework or getting a bit of work done.
Maybe that's why it felt less like a place where people just grab a coffee and go, and more like a place where many people take their time! When you want a little break from a busy daily routine, a Gangnam Station café like this is good to know about.
What we ordered at Something About Coffee

Here are the four things we ordered at Something About Coffee!
- Matcha choco latte
- Green tangerine ade
- Mango fresh cream cake
- Choco pudding cookie

You know how there's a separate stomach for meals and one for dessert, right? Even after a hearty gyukatsu lunch, I couldn't give up dessert, so we happily ordered the moment we saw the menu.

What desserts does Something About Coffee have?
Besides rich premium coffee, Something About Coffee sells all kinds of desserts: baked goods, cakes, macarons and more. I hear it's also known as a go-to spot for handmade desserts made with top-quality ingredients.

Trends move so fast these days that I can hardly keep up, but there were plenty of the trendy desserts too. From butter tteok (butter rice cake) to chewy cookies!

They also had cakes in the ube and Yangzhi Ganlu (mango pomelo sago dessert) concepts that were all the rage for a while! Handmade cakes piled with fresh fruit, so once again the showcase nearly made my eyes spin.

Honestly, I have my gestational diabetes test coming up, so it's a time when I should cut back on sugar, but strangely all I could think about was sweet things. So I decided today was a cheat day and picked whatever I wanted. Before I knew it, one drink and one dessert each were ordered!

How was the mango fresh cream cake?
The mango fresh cream cake at Something About Coffee is topped with generous fresh mango, so it passed on looks alone! It was the first thing that caught my eye. One bite and the sweet mango and soft fresh cream go together so well. Cake really does taste best with mango in it.

The choco pudding cookie and matcha choco latte combo
The choco pudding cookie we ordered alongside was a success too! It's a gooey cookie with rich chocolate pudding inside, so one bite and the sweetness spreads everywhere!

It's like an instant sugar recharge when you're running low, you know? Especially taking a bite of the choco pudding cookie and then sipping the matcha choco latte is pure happiness. Sweet, deep chocolate flavor with a subtle matcha aroma on top, so I think anyone who loves desserts will be satisfied!
Who I'd recommend Something About Coffee to
Something About Coffee is a good place to visit when you want to spend relaxed time in a nice space, or enjoy tasty desserts and drinks! It's good as a date spot, and comfortable for laptop work or studying too. If you're looking for a café near Gangnam Station or Sinnonhyeon Station, give it a visit. It was a space where you can enjoy a little breather with delicious desserts :)
