Wangsimni BBQ with soy sauce rice: four pork cuts at Pujutgan

In short

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom is a cauldron-lid Korean BBQ restaurant on the Haengdang Market restaurant street, a 5-minute walk from Wangsimni Station Exit 10 in Seongdong-gu, Seoul. The order was four pork cuts — pork belly, pork neck, gabrisal (pork blade meat) and skirt meat — with ganjangbap (soy sauce rice), and ordering one serving of meat per person brought unlimited soybean paste stew and janchi guksu (banquet noodles). Staff grill every cut at the table and corkage is free, so Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom works for both group dinners and dates.

📋Menu

The menu is divided into beef and pork, and since I wanted to try various pork cuts, I ordered pork belly, pork neck, gabrisal, and skirt meat by variety, plus soy sauce rice as a special side dish.

🐽A feast of pork belly, pork neck, gabrisal, and skirt meat & the cauldron-lid magic

Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom stands out from the quality of the meat itself. They only use grade 1 and grade 1+ pork, so the bright red color and marbling are gorgeous. Seeing the vivid pork belly, pork neck, gabrisal, and skirt meat served up made me reach for my camera right away.

The signature here is a big iron cauldron lid! Even better, the staff grill the meat for you professionally from start to finish.

From the savory, juice-filled pork belly to the thick and clean-tasting pork neck, the chewy gabrisal, and the soft, deeply flavorful skirt meat — each cut is grilled to golden perfection according to its own character.

The heat unique to the cauldron lid keeps the outside crispy while sealing in moisture inside, so the juices burst in your mouth!

Eating the juicy, perfectly grilled meat together with grilled kimchi is an amazing combination~~!!!

Even with just a single serving order, they grill it perfectly from start to finish....💖 They even wiped the cauldron lid clean afterward — I was touched *.*

🍚Savory soy sauce rice

The soy sauce rice that arrives partway through the meal is a special dish you absolutely have to order! Warm rice mixed with a special soy sauce seasoning and a soft-boiled egg is savory and slightly salty when mixed together. Topping it with a piece of nicely grilled meat is truly the best combination. 🥰

Unlimited soybean paste stew and janchi guksu: the one ordering rule

🥣Unlimited service (savory soybean paste stew & warm janchi guksu noodles)

The touching point of Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom! If you order meat per person, you get access to a generous unlimited side meal courtesy of the owner. I chose the savory soybean paste stew and warm janchi guksu noodles:)

✔️Deep, rich soybean paste stew (doenjang jjigae): the savory, slightly spicy broth cuts right through the richness of the meat, and it pairs perfectly with the soy sauce rice too. 💙

Unlimited soybean paste stew served at the table

✔️Warm, clean janchi guksu (wheat noodle soup): thin noodles in a richly brewed broth are the perfect finishing dish to settle your stomach! Even though it's a free refill item, it's not thrown together carelessly — the flavor is deep enough to sell as a standalone dish, and I was really satisfied. Among Haengdang-dong pork belly restaurants, this is easily the best value and lineup. ☺️

Corkage free: can you bring your own alcohol to Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom?

🍷Corkage-free adds something special

One of the biggest perks of Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom near Wangsimni! It offers corkage-free service. These days a lot of people like to pair good meat with wine or whiskey, and here you can bring a special bottle you've been saving at home, or whatever suits your taste, and enjoy it with top-quality meat without any burden. Bringing along a drink that matches the meat makes for a much more atmospheric meal, and it's also a perfect date course option in Wangsimni! ✨

Final verdict on Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom

💡Excellent quality meat across a variety of cuts, deeply savory soy sauce rice, plus unlimited savory soybean paste stew and warm janchi guksu noodles! Add in the comfort of having the staff grill everything on the cauldron lid and the corkage-free perk, and this was a meal that lacked nothing. If you're looking for a Haengdang-dong restaurant or a Haengdang Market restaurant, be sure to visit Pujutgan Saenggogi-jeom, which boasts generous portions and outstanding taste! I confidently recommend it👍🏼
