Burger restaurant in Mapo for jalapeño double cheese: Quokka Bite
In short
Quokka Bite is a burger restaurant near Gyeongui Line Forest Park in Mapo, Seoul, about a five-minute walk from Daheung Station Exit 3. I ordered the Quokka Double Cheeseburger set with butter garlic fries and received a hash brown through an event; the jalapeños balanced the rich double patties and cheese, though the full meal was more filling than I expected.

After work, I was spending time near Gyeongui Line Forest Park and went to Quokka Bite (쿼카바이트) for dinner. I was very hungry and ordered a double-patty burger, but with the sides it was more filling than I expected, so I ended up leaving a little.

How do you get there from Gyeongui Line Forest Park, and is parking available?
Quokka Bite is on the first floor at 11 Baekbeom-ro 24-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea. It is near Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so it was in a convenient spot to stop by during a walk. It is about a five-minute walk from Daheung Station Exit 3, and you can also walk there from Gongdeok Station.

There is one free parking space in front of the restaurant. Since there is only one spot, I would recommend checking with the restaurant about availability before bringing a car.

Is it suitable for a date or a stop during a dog walk?
Dogs are allowed only at the outdoor seating. It also looked like a fine place to stop by after walking a dog in Gyeongui Line Forest Park.

The indoor space was more compact than I expected, but the tables were not packed closely together, so I was comfortable while eating. Quokka decorations throughout gave it a cute atmosphere, and I thought it would suit a meal during a date at Gyeongui Line Forest Park.

What burgers and set options are available?
Quokka Bite is said to be a grilled burger brand created by a chef with 10 years of experience who trained at Le Cordon Bleu. The beef patties are cooked on an open-flame grill, and they use brioche buns, fresh vegetables, and house-made sauces.

The burger choices included the basic Quokka Burger, Quokka Double, Quokka Chicken, Quokka Hot Chicken, and Quokka Shrimp. You can choose an à la carte burger or a set, and the set side can be changed. Along with regular French fries, there were butter garlic fries, and they also sold milkshakes.

What did the double cheeseburger taste like?
I ordered the Quokka Double Cheeseburger set and changed the side to butter garlic fries. I also took part in an event during my visit and received a hash brown.

With two beef patties, the meat flavor came through clearly in the first bite. The cheese made the overall flavor rich and substantial.

My favorite ingredient was the jalapeños that came as standard. Their intermittent heat cut through the richness of the double patties and cheese. At first, I wondered whether they were really necessary, but as I ate, I felt the burger would be lacking without them.

How filling is it with the sides?
The butter garlic fries were generously covered in a sweet and salty sauce. They would suit someone who prefers a more strongly flavored side than regular French fries.

Adding the hash brown I received through the event made for quite a lot of food. I had been very hungry and thought I could easily finish a double-patty burger, but the burger itself was substantial and the two sides meant I could not finish everything.

If you usually eat smaller portions, you may not need to add many sides when ordering the double burger.

What stayed with me most was the combination of the substantial two patties and the spicy jalapeños. The portion was larger than I expected, but I liked the burger, so I would like to stop by again the next time I am at Gyeongui Line Forest Park.
