Turkish kaimak with honey at a Songdo mall café: Wunder Coffee Bar

Today I'm posting about a place I visited after eating at the Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet, when I needed a sugar boost. I didn't realize it at first, but it turned out to be Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch, a café that's apparently famous as a 'Song Hyun-ah café' (a café featured by the celebrity Song Hyun-ah). Their signature sweet desserts — affogato, einspänner, kaimak — are exactly what you need for a sugar recharge after a meal.

Where Wunder Coffee Bar Songdo is and its opening hours

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch is located at 123 Songdo-gukjedae-ro, B1F, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea. It's open every day from 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM.

Wunder Coffee Bar apparently started in Yeokgok, Bucheon in August 2019 — and sure enough, when I looked it up, the original store is still there. The brand combines coffee with a bar concept, aiming to make coffee comfortable enough to drink every day, while trying to convey the consumption values it stands for. A branch also opened in Sinchon, Seoul in March 2024. They sell coffee beans separately too, so if you're interested, check the photos.

Wunder Coffee Bar's menu and the Songdo-only set

Here's the menu board. Built around Wunder Coffee Bar's own specialty coffee, you'll find the affogato-style Wunder Gato, einspänner, and the cream series in the coffee lineup, alongside juices, ades, milk drinks, and the dessert item kaimak. The ice cream comes in two flavors, hojicha and vanilla, there are 4 types of einspänner and 3 types in the cream series, so you can pick according to your taste. There was also an affordable set menu — apparently something offered only at the Songdo Hyundai Outlet branch.

Once you order, they call you with a buzzer, but in the meantime I had a bit of trouble finding a seat. I went on a weekday but there were seriously so many people. Luckily I managed to grab a good seat right as the buzzer went off, and hurried over to pick up my Wunder Gato + Wunder Coffee set and the kaimak.

How the hojicha-vanilla Wunder Gato tastes

This is the Wunder Gato, their affogato. I chose the ice cream mix of hojicha and vanilla. Since it was my first time trying it, I didn't want to miss out on either flavor. The specialty coffee, unique to Wunder Coffee Bar, topped with sweet and nutty-tasting ice cream, showed off a really appealing flavor. As the ice cream melted into the coffee and made it sweeter, I loved it.

Is the Wunder Coffee einspänner worth it?

Next up is the einspänner, called Wunder Coffee. I ordered the basic flavor, Wunder Coffee. Rich espresso topped with soft cream created a delicious harmony. I love espresso-based coffee and drink it often at various places, but the einspänner at Wunder Coffee Bar, the famous Song Hyun-ah café, was definitely something special.

How to eat kaimak: honey and toasted ciabatta

Last is the kaimak. There's probably no one who doesn't know it by now, but kaimak is a traditional Turkish dessert made from the fatty layer that forms when milk is heated. That white item is the kaimak. It's usually served with honey and spread on bread. Wunder Coffee Bar's kaimak thoughtfully came with a card explaining how to eat and store it. You're supposed to scoop up a generous amount of kaimak and honey with a knife and place it on top of the bread — importantly, not spread it flat like peanut butter or jam. That way you can properly feel the texture of the kaimak.

Since both drinks were already sweet, I worried the kaimak's flavor might get lost, but that wasn't the case at all. Piling the kaimak and honey generously onto the lightly toasted ciabatta, the creamy nuttiness of the kaimak and the sweetness of the honey blended together beautifully in the mouth.

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch, the Song Hyun-ah café, is a sweet spot known for its sweet signature menu and desserts. If you're looking for something sweet to cleanse your palate after a meal in the sprawling Songdo Hyundai Premium Outlet, it's definitely worth a visit.
