Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch is an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant at 79 Gonghang-ro in Buk-gu, Daegu, a short drive from EXCO. On the way back from an event at EXCO, the writer picked the deep-flavor broth, refilled meat without limit, and worked through a self-bar of chicken, tteokbokki, sweet pumpkin salad, pad thai and cream pasta before finishing with coffee and ice cream. With plenty of parking and a wide dining room, Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch is an easy choice for group and family meals.

Daegu restaurant with a gangjeong dessert corner: Geumdeungeo

Geumdeungeo Deulanguil Main Branch is a grilled fish restaurant on Deulan-ro in Suseong, Daegu, known for wood-fired grilled mackerel. The meal was two servings of wood-fired grilled mackerel and two of spicy pork stir-fry, with handmade banchan delivered first by a serving robot and refilled at the self-serve bar, followed by self-serve gangjeong (sweet crisp rice snacks), coffee and apricot juice at the entrance. There was a wait, but the wide hall and private rooms at Geumdeungeo made for a relaxed meal.
