In short

Choi Woo-young Gogiya (최우영고기야) is a Korean BBQ restaurant on the basement level (B1) of a commercial building near Gasan Digital Complex Station in Geumcheon, Seoul, where the meat is pre-grilled and cooked for you. Alongside galbisal (beef rib finger meat), pork belly, grilled king prawns, chapssal-tteok (glutinous rice cake) and cold soba, the table got side dishes, self-bar rice and a pot of doenjang stew with sea squirts, so the meal felt like a full Korean spread. I'm finally writing my honest review of Choi Woo-young Gogiya (최우영고기야), which I visited not long ago near Gasan Digital Complex Station! It was one of those days where I got a really hearty, satisfying meal.

Where is Choi Woo-young Gogiya near Gasan Digital Complex Station?

Choi Woo-young Gogiya is a Korean BBQ restaurant on the basement level of a commercial building near Gasan Digital Complex Station. It was my first time getting off at this station, and there's a huge industrial complex and even outlet malls, so there's a lot to see?? Maybe that's why there were so many places to eat, too! Choi Woo-young Gogiya is inside this building~!

It's on the basement level, so head downstairs to find it!!

A good spot for team dinners: they grill the meat for you and corkage is free

Unlike other places, the meat comes out already pre-grilled, and corkage is free for up to 2 bottles.. wow, seriously! I really thought this would be a great place for a weekday office team dinner!

Since the meat comes pre-grilled, you can just set it on the grill on the table and eat, which was so convenient! I find I keep going back to BBQ places where the staff grill it for you. It's so easy, right? haha

Seating and ordering

The tables were mostly 2-person and 4-person, and there was a separate self-bar! Every table also has a tablet, so you can order easily from it~! The menu photos were big and clear, so it was really easy to look through haha.

What did we order at Choi Woo-young Gogiya?

After a long time deciding, here's what we ordered: galbisal (beef rib meat) 150g x 3 servings, pork belly, cold soba (buckwheat noodles), Coke Zero, chapssal-tteok (glutinous rice cake) and grilled king prawns haha.

Not many pork belly places sell grilled prawns and rice cakes, so it was nice to try something a bit unusual here! I especially recommend the grilled prawns, definitely get them!

What are the side dishes and self-bar like?

As soon as we ordered, all kinds of side dishes started arriving! The charm of Choi Woo-young Gogiya is exactly these side dishes! Even if you only order meat, a whole spread of dishes and banchan (small side dishes) gets laid out, so if you love Korean home-style food, you'll go crazy for it~!

Best of all, the rice and sausages are all at the self-bar, so you don't need to order rice separately.. that's such a killer perk.. If you want a really filling meal, come to Choi Woo-young Gogiya, order one serving of meat per person, and you get a full Korean-style meal with the sides!

They also give you a whole heap of vegetables~! And the prawns come as three, so you can grill them yourself!

Doenjang stew with sea squirts, included

A whole pot of doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) comes out with no extra order, and it was packed with miduduk (sea squirts)! It was really spicy-savory and refreshing haha.

Pre-grilled galbisal and pork belly: how are the taste and portion?

Soon the galbisal came out! It arrives pre-grilled, so it's so easy to eat haha. It was also already cut into bite-size pieces, so you can pop it straight into your mouth!

The pork belly came out separately too. It looked small because it was spread out.. but once I gathered it into one bowl, it was a seriously big portion wow..

The meat quality is great, and above all, eating meat someone else grilled is so convenient and tasty!!! that it kept turning into a rice thief.. haha. Like real yakiniku (Japanese-style grilled meat), you can just eat comfortably! With such good meat quality, I was really satisfied with Choi Woo-young Gogiya haha.

How were the grilled prawns, cold soba and other sides?

The sides we ordered at Choi Woo-young Gogiya were all such good quality that I kept eating them?! The prawns were plump and meaty so I couldn't stop, and watching them cook right in front of me was cute and fun, so my hand kept reaching for them!!!

And last came the cold soba.. seriously, the menu portions here are huge, so you have to be ready to finish it all!! lol Even a big eater would be full from ordering just one dish here, the quality is good and the portions are big!

With soba, topping it with pork galbi is the best way to eat it! Remembering the old days of eating at a cold noodle franchise, I put the meat on piece by piece and ate them together lol.

Overall verdict on Choi Woo-young Gogiya near Gasan Digital Complex Station

The table was practically groaning under the food, the portions are big and tasty! Above all the meat quality is good and the owner was kind, so we left feeling happy and full. That was Choi Woo-young Gogiya, a great BBQ spot at Gadidan Station~!
