Autumn walk brunch café in Seochon with buttery coffee: Wine Stein
In short
Wine Stein Seochon (와인슈타인 서촌) is a café and wine bar on the 3rd floor of the Inwang Building near Gyeongbokgung Station in Seochon, Jongno, Seoul, serving coffee and brunch by day and wine and dinner by night. On an autumn walk through Seochon, the writer and a friend shared the Lunch Club set of mushroom soup, an arugula ham croissant sandwich, rapée salad and tomato pasta, and were especially impressed by the coffee's buttery flavor. With views over Seochon and a well-balanced brunch, Wine Stein Seochon won over two small eaters who cleared every plate.

Where is Wine Stein Seochon?

Wine Stein Seochon is on the 3rd floor of the Inwang Building, a short walk past Sajik Altar! I wanted to stroll Seochon's autumn streets, and that's how I ended up here.

Wine Stein Seochon opening hours and menus by time of day
Wine Stein Seochon is open from 11am to 11pm, but the menu changes by time of day~ Coffee, brunch and desserts are served 11:00–17:00, wine 11:00–23:00, and dinner 18:00–23:00!!

The atmosphere, with Seochon spread out below
You climb the stairs, open the door, and the view and mood are so pretty that you can't help gasping.

I told the owner, who greeted us warmly, that it was even better than I'd expected. The real atmosphere beats the photos~

It looks down over Seochon, and although we came for a daytime brunch, the view made us look forward to the night scenery even more. My friend and I agreed we have to come back at night haha

Natural light pours warmly through the big windows, and the space is tastefully decorated with cute little props.

The owner has arranged those little props so carefully, and I gave another thumbs-up to their sense of style!

What's in the Wine Stein Lunch Club set?
The Lunch Club set comes in three options, A, B and C, and you can choose from a croissant sandwich, salad with pasta, and mushroom soup. The owner and staff are as warm and kind as the space itself. While I was deciding what to eat, the well-put-together brunch set caught my eye, so I happily ordered the Lunch Club set.

Coffee and drinks are included, and you can pick your drink. Right in the middle of Seochon, a brunch set that even includes fragrant coffee felt very reasonably priced~

Wine displays for when it turns into a wine bar at night
In the evening Wine Stein turns into a wine bar, and one corner of the shop displays wines. Detailed descriptions and prices are laid out along one wall like decoration, and I honestly found it so pretty!
After looking for a good while, I felt they had picked many good-value wines, so it seems like a nice place to drop by for wine and snacks without pressure~

How did the Lunch Club brunch taste?
The Lunch Club dishes were prettily plated and every one tasted solid. The food finally arrived at our table. I'd thought the way they decorated the shop was out of the ordinary, and sure enough, the plating was lovely too,

and they must use good ingredients, because every dish tasted really well made.

Mushroom soup, arugula ham croissant sandwich and carrot rapée salad
First, the soup: smooth and rich, with a pleasantly strong button-mushroom aroma.

The sandwich had fragrant arugula and ham tucked inside a soft, nutty croissant, and the salad came with crunchy, sweet carrot rapée (shredded carrot salad). It was fresh, the dressing wasn't heavy, and it wasn't too much for a brunch, so I was really satisfied!

Tomato pasta too, and two small eaters cleared the plates
Then the pasta: the spices and seasoning weren't overdone, the tomato's freshness really came through, and the noodles had a nice texture. Every dish was well balanced, so the two of us, both small eaters, cleared our plates for the first time in a while haha

Wine Stein Seochon coffee, and whether they sell beans
Another surprise at Wine Stein Seochon was the coffee. The first scent had the soft flavor of butter, and the acidity and body were full and balanced rather than light, so it felt like I'd met a really good cup of coffee for the first time in ages.

It isn't even a coffee shop, but I was so impressed that I asked the owner whether they sell the beans. Sadly, they don't,

so if you miss the coffee and the pretty Seochon blossom view, the only option is to come back haha

Is brunch at Wine Stein Seochon worth recommending?
I was so happy to stumble on an unexpected favorite spot after so long: brunch at Wine Stein in Seochon.

It's a place I'd recommend to anyone and would go to in Seochon without hesitation, so I'd like to recommend it to you too.
