Sinsa Chinese private room date: yangnyeom chicken menbosha, Samsin
In short
Samsin Garosu-gil is a fusion Chinese restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, a 3–5 minute walk from Sinsa Station Exit 8. The writer and her boyfriend booked a private room through Naver Reservation and had the 25,000 won per person lunch Course A (snow crab meat soup, xiaolongbao, Tokyo tangsuyuk, jajangmyeon or jjamppong, and dessert), then added menbosha (fried shrimp toast) with a yangnyeom-chicken-style sauce and mango sherbet. Samsin Garosu-gil suits couples who want to try several Chinese dishes as a course in a private room.

I went to Samsin Garosu-gil, a Sinsa Station favorite, with my boyfriend! On dates we always end up eating the same kinds of things, so this time we decided to enjoy a course of different Chinese dishes for a change.

Samsin Garosu-gil atmosphere: is it good for a date?
Samsin is a fusion Chinese restaurant where the space catches your eye as much as the menu. The vibe is a bit different from an ordinary neighborhood Chinese joint: Oriental touches mixed with stylish interior design, so it would suit a special-occasion meal too.

Our private room at Samsin, booked on Naver
You can reserve a room in advance through Naver Reservation at Samsin Garosu-gil, so we booked one! Private and perfect for a date ♥️

The main hall's interior is so pretty too, so I think you'd enjoy a meal there just as much!

Kimchi on the side and NFC table ordering
The basic table setting at Samsin Garosu-gil comes with kimchi, and I loved that, haha

Samsin lunch Course A for 25,000 won: what's included?
Samsin Course A is ₩25,000 per person and includes soup, dim sum, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), one noodle dish and dessert. Samsin has everything from dim sum and tangsuyuk to jajangmyeon (black bean noodles), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) and fried rice, so you can order à la carte, but this day we wanted to taste a little of everything, so we chose the course.
- Sokcho snow crab meat soup
- Handmade dim sum sampler, 2 pcs (xiaolongbao, soup dumplings)
- Tokyo tangsuyuk
- Choice of noodles (Taean potato jajangmyeon / meat jjamppong)
- Dessert
I liked that one course covers everything from soup to mains, noodles and dessert, so you don't have to agonize over each dish. I was especially looking forward to jajangmyeon and tangsuyuk, which I eat often, in a slightly different style.

First course: Sokcho snow crab meat soup
The first dish in Samsin's Course A is the Sokcho snow crab meat soup. Starting with a warm soup made it feel like a proper course meal. Since it uses crab meat, I was curious how it would differ from an ordinary Chinese-style soup. It was a nice light starter before the main dishes.

Handmade dim sum sampler: xiaolongbao (soup dumplings)
Next came the handmade dim sum sampler, which in Samsin's Course A is 2 xiaolongbao. With dim sum, eating it before it cools is key, right? Eaten warm, you get the wrapper and the juicy filling together, which makes it even tastier. I like dumplings in general, so I was happy to find dim sum in a Chinese course.

Samsin's signature dish: Tokyo tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)
The dish I was most looking forward to in the course was the Tokyo tangsuyuk! Samsin's Tokyo tangsuyuk is apparently served in a different style from ordinary tangsuyuk. It's a dish you'd miss in a Chinese course, and it pairs well with jajangmyeon or jjamppong. Tangsuyuk with sauce is nice to have in the middle of a meal, and since two people can share it, it suited a date too.
Doesn't it look so good.. 🤤

Noodles: Taean potato jajangmyeon or meat jjamppong
For the last main dish in Samsin's Course A, you can pick either Taean potato jajangmyeon or meat jjamppong. I liked that you can choose by taste.
Jajangmyeon is familiar and filling, while jjamppong suits people who prefer noodles in broth. Picking different ones with my boyfriend and sharing lets us enjoy both flavors, which is part of the fun of a course meal, I think.

A table full of delicious Chinese food 😛🥂😻✨

What we added to Course A at Samsin
Menbosha (fried shrimp toast) with yangnyeom chicken sauce
On top of Samsin's Course A, we ordered menbosha (shrimp sandwiched between crispy fried bread). Many people love this Chinese dish: crispy on the outside, with bouncy shrimp inside, and it was great as a side in the middle of the course.
It has a different kind of crunch from tangsuyuk, so I think it suits anyone who wants to try several fried dishes together. Thick and crispy,, and the sauce tasted like Korean seasoned fried chicken, so it was really good!!

A fresh finish with mango sherbet
After the meal we also ordered mango sherbet. After eating lots of Chinese dishes your mouth can feel a bit heavy, but the cool, fresh mango sherbet wrapped things up cleanly. The sweet mango flavor and cold texture made it a lovely dessert, and a good palate cleanser after the menbosha and the course dishes.
After the meal, the dessert included in the course is served too. Finishing with dessert after the mains and noodles made the course feel complete.
Samsin is currently giving an extra handmade seasonal fruit sherbet when you join the review event!! Be sure to finish with the sherbet before you go ♥️
Verdict: Samsin Garosu-gil for a private room date near Sinsa Station
Samsin Garosu-gil let us enjoy the Chinese dishes we usually eat as a slightly more special course. The lunch Course A is ₩25,000 per person with soup, dim sum, tangsuyuk, noodles and dessert, a decent choice if you want to taste many dishes at once.
We also added menbosha and mango sherbet. The menbosha was a nice crispy dish in the middle of the course, and the mango sherbet was a fresh way to end the meal. If you're looking for a date spot near Sinsa Station and Garosu-gil, or want a Chinese course in a nice atmosphere, I think it's worth putting on your list.
