An honest review of Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch, one of the hottest bakeries in Yeonnam-dong. The service and taste this time were seriously next-level! My family is already regulars.

💡 Reservation tip! Naver reservations are open up to 2 days before pickup. For bulk orders of 5 or more, you need to call the store directly to book them all at once, just FYI.

The inside is pretty small, so only up to 3 groups can enter at once.

There's no dedicated parking at this location, so you'll need to use a paid lot.

You can actually eat Mandong Jegwa bread at the Ediya Yeonnam-dong branch. That sounds amazing — next time I'll buy bread here and enjoy it with coffee there.

What is the shop like inside?

Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch has a clean yet cozy wood-tone exterior and interior that matches the Yeonnam-dong vibe perfectly.

It's such a popular place that by the time I visited, a lot of the bread was already sold out, and not much was left. T_T

Also, this place is a buy-and-leave setup, so you can't eat inside.

So many delicious breads packed in. The prices are really reasonable too — the big chestnut bread is ₩4,900.

Four tasting slices each: how sampling works at Mandong Jegwa

The staff member just kept slicing up sample bread and handing it to us! Everything I tried was so good I kept picking things out… since we're a family of four, they kept giving us four slices at a time for tasting. They were so generous with it….

When I asked about the taste of a bread, they opened a whole new bag just for us to sample. They gave us so much to try that I started to feel a little sorry, but also super grateful. This place has the best service and kindness, seriously.

The onion bagel I bought right after tasting it. This is seriously so good. I keep thinking about the taste, so I'll probably go back to buy it again soon. It's also huge — such good value.

For garlic baguette, onion bagel, basil tomato, cucumber baguette, and cappuccino bread, don't put them on the tray — just tell the counter directly.

Given the prices at big bakery cafés these days, the value for the size and quality of these breads is excellent! Nowadays if you go to even a slightly famous bakery, it's ₩8,000-9,000 minimum...

Taste review of all five Mandong Jegwa breads

As soon as we got home, I unwrapped everything and tried a bit of each. Honestly, not a single one was a miss — everything was amazing!

Onion bagel (5,500 won) ★★★★★

This is genuinely insane!! Now I totally get why everyone buys the onion bagel when they come to Mandong Jegwa. The crispy, nutty bagel texture is packed with onion and sweet, soft cream cheese — so good. Highly, highly recommend, you have to try it.

Jalapeno ciabatta (4,800 won)

The ciabatta itself is really chewy and plain-tasting, but it's stuffed with jalapeno, olives, and cheese, so it's spicy and salty in a way that never gets old — you just keep eating it. Perfect for people who don't like greasy food.

Chestnut loaf (4,900 won)

When I cut it open, the crust was crispy and the inside moist, packed full of nutty, sweet chestnut chunks — really satisfying to chew through. Just the right sweetness and fluffiness.

Eongdeongi bread (3,500 won) and yakbap pound cake (3,800 won)

I grabbed 'eongdeongi' (literally 'bottom') bread because the name was cute — the white, soft bread was filled with smooth condensed-milk cream, nice and sweet. The yakbap (sweet rice) pound cake also had great chewy, hearty flavor — would make a great gift for older relatives too!

If you're on a bakery pilgrimage around Yeonnam-dong, definitely stop by Mandong Jegwa Yeonnam Branch. Every single bread we bought exceeded expectations, and the onion bagel was especially amazing. More than anything, the staff's endless tasting samples and kindness completely won me over — I'm 200% going back! And I actually already have…! I'll probably swing by Yeonnam-dong again soon and load up on bread.
