Suwon cake café near Gyeonggi Arts Center: mango & fig cake at Diaz
In short
Diaz Cake Boutique is a fruit cream cake café on the 2nd floor of a building on Nahyeseok Street (나혜석거리), near City Hall Station in Suwon. On a Saturday when a Gyeonggi Arts Center concert made parking hard to find, the writer and a friend ordered one cake each, a mango cake and a fig cake, and the fluffy, not-too-sweet milk cream and moist sponge stayed enjoyable to the last bite. Diaz Cake Boutique is a strong pick for milk cream lovers and anyone looking for an anniversary cake.

How was parking on the day of a Gyeonggi Arts Center concert?
I went on a Saturday, and apparently there was a Yoon Jong-shin concert in Suwon at the Gyeonggi Arts Center right next door, so we couldn't park there T_T I wandered through the alleys looking for a public car park, but there were no spots, so it was a bit of a struggle T_T
I used to hang out in Suwon's Ingye-dong a lot, and this time I came back to the City Hall Station area for the first time in ages. I heard there's a place in Ingye-dong famous for fruit cream cake, so I went looking for it. And here it is: Diaz Cake Boutique.

Which floor is Diaz Cake Boutique on?
Diaz Cake Boutique is on the 2nd floor of a building on Nahyeseok Street!! It might be hard to find on a first visit because it's upstairs, but the sign is big. There's a Diaz Café on the 4th floor, so don't mix them up~!!

Get off on the 2nd floor and there's Diaz Cake Boutique!! They say the cakes are packed with 100% animal-based fresh cream and top-grade fresh fruit.

What cakes does Diaz Cake Boutique have?
Open the pretty door and you'll find a display case full of colorful, pretty cakes haha

Fruit cream cakes with milk cream line the case. There's mango, blueberry and fig, plus a fruit cake with several fruits together! It was Saturday afternoon, and by the time we left the fruit cake had sold out^^
There are whole cakes as well as slices, and a lot of people were buying them for anniversaries.

For celebrations, they even have pretty candles, number candles and party hats~

What about drinks and desserts besides cake?
Besides the basic café drinks, Diaz Cake Boutique seems to be known for its tea!! They have all kinds of premium teas. They also have financiers (small almond butter cakes), which aren't in the showcase~

What are the interior and seating like?
True to the name "boutique," the furniture is antique and charmingly decorated. One side is a wall of windows, so the cool autumn breeze came in nicely~
Along one wall there's a row of seats for 2 to 4 people that looked great for a date, but it was completely full so I couldn't take a photo^^ There aren't many tables, so if you go late you may not find a seat!
How do the mango cake and fig cake taste?
Ta-da, our coffee and cakes have arrived~~ At a cream cake hotspot, one cake each is the rule haha

First up was my friend's pick, the mango cake!! The fresh mango was so ripe, sweet and fragrant, and really good.

My pick was the fig cake!! The figs were very ripe too, soft and sweet and delicious.
The cream at Diaz Cake Boutique is fluffy, as if lots of meringue had been whipped in, not very sweet, with a real milk aroma. The sponge is moist and soft too, so it cuts easily with a fork and melts in your mouth and vanishes in an instant!!! It never got heavy or cloying to the very end, the kind of cake where I thought I could finish a whole one by myself in one sitting...!!!
Who should go to Diaz Cake Boutique?
If you love milk cream or have an anniversary coming up, I really hope you'll try a cake from Diaz Cake Boutique!!! I'd also recommend it as a date spot near City Hall Station~~ The café is quiet overall, so it was perfect for chatting.
