Cheonan café: truffle madeleine after a 20-min weekend wait, Brewers

Today I'm sharing a review of Brewers, an already famous café in Sinbu-dong, Cheonan. I visit Sinbu-dong cafés a lot, and personally I think Brewers Coffee might be one of the most popular cafés in the neighborhood.

Where is Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch, and what are the hours?

Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch (브루어스커피 천안신부점) is in the food alley near Shinsegae Department Store and the bus terminal in Sinbu-dong, Cheonan. It's open daily 12:00-21:00, and takeout is available.

Because it sits in the food alley near Shinsegae and the terminal, it's easy to get to, and both the coffee and desserts are so satisfying that people keep coming back. It's especially known for baked goods like financiers (small buttery almond cakes), madeleines and canelés (caramelized custard pastries), so lots of people hunting for Cheonan dessert spots visit.

What are the outdoor tables like?

Besides indoor seats, Brewers also has outdoor tables. The weather was really lovely the day I visited, so even the outdoor seats were completely full. Lots of people were enjoying coffee and desserts in the warm sunshine, and the outdoor space was nearly as popular as the inside.

How long is the weekend afternoon wait?

At Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch, I got in after waiting about 20 minutes on a weekend afternoon. I went in the weekend afternoon slot and, as expected, it was crowded. Luckily the wait wasn't terribly long. By the time we left there was no line, though you'd still have had to wait about 5 minutes. If you time your visit well, I think you can enjoy it more leisurely.

Interior and seating

The inside has cute wood-toned decor, with tables packed in fairly tightly, so it gets bustling when it fills up. The first thing you notice walking in is the nutty smell of butter drifting around, and if you love desserts, you can't help but be happy the moment you step in~ There are charming little props decorating every corner. There are plenty of seats and it can hold a lot of guests, but as a popular café it feels rather busy when full, so it's not a quiet café atmosphere.

Baked goods lineup: more new items?

Besides the previously famous financiers, canelés and madeleines, I saw quite a lot of new items I'd never seen before.

It felt like the dessert selection is even more varied than on my earlier visits, and they seem to keep launching new items.

Thanks to that, I get to try a new dessert every time I visit, which is nice~

Do they serve you at your seat?

After ordering, the staff brought the drinks right to our seat, which made things easy. Also, there's no system where you return your cups and plates yourself; the staff clear them, so you can relax at your table, which is another plus.

Mocha latte and flat peach iced tea

At Brewers I ordered two desserts, a mocha latte and a flat peach iced tea.

The mocha latte wasn't as sweet as I expected, so it was easy to drink without feeling heavy,

and the flat peach iced tea had a strong peach aroma and was delicious too.

For desserts, I ordered the truffle madeleine and the plain financier.

Brewers truffle madeleine: is the truffle flavor strong?

Brewers' truffle madeleine has thin truffle slices on top, and the truffle aroma isn't overpowering, so it's easy to eat.

The truffle madeleine had thin truffle slices on top, and even before eating, a subtle truffle aroma rose up, which got me excited.

One bite and the madeleine's signature moist texture combined with the truffle aroma, giving it a charm that's definitely different from an ordinary madeleine. Truffle can easily feel too much, but it wasn't overpowering here, which I liked.

Plain financier: true to the basics

Brewers' plain financier has a slightly crisp outside and a moist, chewy inside,

There are no fancy toppings, but I liked that it was true to the basics.

I've been many times, and why I keep thinking about it

Brewers Coffee Cheonan Sinbu Branch wasn't my first visit; I've been several times. I think there's a reason it's crowded every time I come. The coffee is decent, but above all the dessert quality is good, so it's a café I often think of when I'm in Sinbu-dong. This time I was also glad to find the newly released dessert items.
