What kind of café is Wonz Coffee?

Wonz Coffee (ONESCOFFEE) is a café in Guui-dong, Seoul, near Children's Grand Park, and it takes its coffee seriously. The desserts are varied and the coffee is great to begin with, so it's already known as a neighborhood favorite in Guui-dong.

This is already my Nth visit! The inside is spacious and clean, so it's a good spot for a coffee and a chat. You can park about 2 cars beside the building, and it's about a 10-minute walk from Humun Station of Children's Grand Park. It's also a nice place to stop for coffee after a stroll through the park.

Wonz Coffee is a specialty local café, and the coffee is brewed from beans roasted by a national-team barista, so the taste is a cut above. Great equipment plus great beans? It can't possibly taste bad!

There are also board games in a corner of the shop and an instant photo machine, so it's a good place to make memories too.

What's on the menu, and how do refills and ordering work?

You can order and pay right at the kiosk. The signature coffees are the Lotus cream latte, orange cream latte and vanilla bean crème latte.

There are also Americano, cold brew, flat white, café latte, dolce latte and more. Americano and cold brew even come with refills! I can't remember the last time a café offered refills.

Non-coffee drinks for people who can't have coffee

There's a good range of non-coffee drinks, so even people who don't drink coffee can visit without worry. You can also choose your beans.

Baked-goods desserts and brunch

Baked goods are the star desserts here: plain scone, chocolate chip scone, apple cinnamon scone, raspberry scone, butter tteok (chewy rice cake), macadamia financier, salty choco financier, Lotus financier, egg tart, lemon madeleine, tiramisu cake, croffle, Basque cheesecake, milk roll and more.

For brunch there's a club sandwich, a chili chicken breast sandwich and butter kaya toast, so it's a decent place to have a filling meal too.

How does the cold brew latte at Wonz Coffee come out?

The cold brew latte comes with the coffee concentrate in a separate beaker, and you pour it into the milk yourself. The cold brew is made in-house and sold there, and you can swap the milk for soy or oat.

Part of why I keep coming back is how kind the staff are. Even when it's busy they're always friendly and explain things well, so I leave in a good mood. And of course the coffee is the best! Even though I know nothing about coffee, I can tell the cold brew is good. It really feels different from other cafés.

Creamy milk meeting cold brew is wonderful. A perfect match with desserts! You just pour the concentrate from the beaker as you like, and I felt like a real barista.

My husband's pick: Belgian handmade chocolate milk

The Belgian handmade chocolate milk my husband ordered has chocolate chips in it, so you get something to chew too. Because it's made in-house, the flavor is rich, with a sweetness that doesn't feel artificial.

How do the plain scone and financiers taste?

Wonz Coffee is a baked-goods specialist, and its plain scone is best spread with the strawberry jam served alongside. It's a nutty scone full of butter flavor.

The salty choco financier is the textbook sweet-and-salty treat. Crisp outside, moist inside. It tastes like it's packed with almond flour, and it's really good. The macadamia financier is twice as nutty.

Wonz Coffee is a place where I eat well and chat happily every time I come. If you're looking for a café to recharge your sugar after Children's Grand Park, I gently recommend it.
