Eunpyeong ramen open on Chuseok with a rainy stream view: Oreno Ramen

In short

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is a ramen restaurant on Bulgwangcheon-gil near Saejeol Station in Eunpyeong, Seoul. Visiting on the evening of Chuseok in the rain, the writer ordered two bowls of tori paitan ramen at 13,000 won each and a mixed tsukune platter at 5,000 won, then used the free refills of noodles, broth and rice — her husband added noodles while she poured rice into the soup. With its rich chicken broth and tender chicken breast, Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is her favourite ramen shop and worth the fifty-minute wait.

A ramen restaurant worth knowing in Eunpyeong! I visited Oreno Ramen, famous around here for its Bulgwangcheon stream location. You get a wide-open view of the stream, haha. I went in the evening and there were plenty of customers! There can be a wait during peak hours, but turnover is decent so it shouldn't be too long. Honestly, the taste is worth even a fifty-minute wait, no complaints at all, haha.

Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong is open daily from 11:00 to 20:30! Break time is 14:30 to 17:00! It's close to Saejeol Station so it's easy to get to! Parking is available for one or two cars beside the restaurant.

I visited on Chuseok day itself. So grateful they were even open on the holiday...

Eating ramen while looking out at the rainy Bulgwangcheon view~ a lethal dose of romance, haha.

Chairs set up for waiting in front of the restaurant

There were chairs in front of the shop too, so I could wait comfortably.

You prepay at the kiosk! True to a ramen restaurant, the menu is focused squarely on ramen. I really like that. I ordered two bowls of tori paitan ramen at 13,000 won each! And ordered the mixed tsukune too!

Inside Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong: tables, counter seats and an open kitchen

There are table seats and counter (dachi) seats! The counter seats look like fun for watching the ramen get made, haha. The kitchen was kept really clean too! Everyone was wearing hygiene caps and masks!

There's danmuji (pickled radish) on every table, haha. Nice for taking a bite between spoonfuls of ramen.

Free refills of noodles, broth and rice at Oreno Ramen Eunpyeong

And at Oreno Ramen, the noodles, broth, and even rice are all unlimited refill! In this age of high prices, unlimited broth refills too... My husband, who eats a lot, immediately asked for more noodles, haha, while I'm a light eater so one bowl was plenty for me.

And you can't have ramen without something fizzy, haha. They even gave us ice, so it was nice and refreshing!

They even had hair ties on hand, so thoughtful! You definitely need one while eating noodles, haha.

How does the tori paitan ramen taste? Milky chicken broth, wood ear mushroom and chicken breast

It comes out faster than fast food, haha. Truly great for us impatient Koreans! That milky broth... honestly... there are plenty of good ramen shops in Hapjeong or Yeonnam-dong, but this beats them all, number one for me! Rich broth, wood ear mushroom, and tender chicken breast!!! Light enough for a hangover cure but hearty enough for lunch or dinner — my absolute favorite ramen spot!

The chicken is so soft it practically melts in your mouth, haha.

Savory and true to the basics! Egg, wood ear mushroom, scallion, and perfectly cooked noodles! Such a perfect bowl of ramen.

Normally, one bowl of ramen is plenty to fill up an adult woman! The noodles weren't overcooked or undercooked, haha. The broth soaks nicely into the noodles, so they're delicious on their own, and delicious too when you scoop them up with broth on the spoon.

They'll give you kimchi if you ask, and it's crunchy! Goes really well with the ramen, haha.

Mixed tsukune platter for 5,000 won: a generous portion of chicken skewers

The mixed tsukune! It's only 5,000 won but the portion is big! Savory mayonnaise and cheese sauce with tender, good-texture chicken — popping a whole piece in your mouth is really tasty, haha.

My husband immediately went and added more noodles... haha. They really do give you a full extra bowl's worth, chicken and all... If this place were within walking distance of our home, I think we'd be eating ramen here three times a week, haha.

Extra noodles added via the unlimited refill

Rice in the leftover broth, plus the 1,000-won extra egg

There's always someone who wants to mix rice into their ramen broth, and that someone is me... haha. If the broth is delicious, I absolutely have to add rice! I asked for a bowl of rice and thoroughly mixed it into the broth, haha.

Add the egg if you can, seriously, haha. It's only a thousand won and the yolk is nicely salty, pairing so well with the broth! I wonder how they make an egg like that, hehe — if someone made it for me I could eat it every day.

The biggest portion and best value ramen I've had in a while! I recommend this to anyone looking for a good ramen restaurant in Eunpyeong. Rich broth, a filling meal — this was Oreno Ramen.
