Looking for bukkake udon near Isu Station, I found Kosi Isu Branch
Kosi Isu Branch (코시 이수점) is a Japanese restaurant near Isu Station where you can eat bukkake udon (udon served with concentrated sauce poured over) made with in-house noodles. I've been obsessed with bukkake udon lately and have been hunting for a good place, but there are surprisingly few restaurants that serve it! Then I found Kosi, which is a well-known spot near Seoul National University Station, and it turns out there's a branch at Isu Station too! So off I went to Isu Station for bukkake udon.

Kosi Isu Branch: location, parking and hours
The address of Kosi Isu Branch is 300 Sadang-ro, 1F Units 126 and 127, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Parking is in the building's basement (1 hour). They also take reservations through Naver.

Kosi Isu Branch opens at 11:20 and closes at 21:00, with a break time from 15:20 to 17:00, so keep that in mind. It's an udon place that makes its own noodles, and it was even featured on the TV show Master of Living (생활의 달인), so it's the real deal! Reservations and delivery are both available too!

What's on the menu at Kosi Isu Branch?
This Isu Station favorite has cold udon, hot udon and kama udon (udon served in the hot pot water), plus tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) and donburi (rice bowl) dishes.

Atmosphere: roomy tables, solo seats, baby chairs, power outlets
The restaurant is a lot bigger than I expected. There are plenty of tables and they're spacious, so it felt comfortable.

There are seats for solo diners and baby chairs too. There are also lots of power outlets inside, so it's a nice place to charge your phone while you eat!

If you write a Naver receipt review, you get a free can of a drink, so keep that in mind.

How do you order bukkake udon and tonkatsu together?
At Kosi Isu Branch you can choose a set (정식) or extra tonkatsu as an option when ordering, so you can have bukkake udon and tonkatsu in one meal. My pick was the bukkake udon! I wanted both bukkake udon and a pork cutlet and was wondering what to order, and it turns out you can add a set or extra cutlet when ordering. Total win, haha.

If you add the set on the tonkatsu menu, you get kake udon. I think it's the hot udon, haha. Adding udon is ₩3,500! Great value, I think.

If you pick extra tonkatsu from the menu it's ₩6,000, so choosing it as an option when ordering seems cheaper. They also have draft beer, haha, which would be nice for dinner. Sadly I came at lunch, so no beer for me.

The bukkake udon and tonkatsu spread
Here's the bukkake udon and tonkatsu I ordered! This much for one person is seriously stuffing! Staff bring the food to your seat.

It comes with tonkatsu sauce, salt, wasabi, danmuji (yellow pickled radish), kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), cabbage and tsuyu (Japanese noodle sauce).

I didn't know the udon menu came with yubu chobap (tofu-pouch sushi), haha, but I loved that it did. And the extra tonkatsu I added! It's sirloin cutlet!

How was the bukkake udon at Kosi Isu Branch?
The bukkake udon at Kosi Isu Branch had springy, cool noodles that went really well with the aged tsuyu. Maybe because it's made in the traditional Japanese Sanuki style, the noodles looked really springy. This is what handmade noodles are all about! They're made from just three ingredients, salt, water and flour, kneaded and rested, and apparently only finished after 48 hours. "Koshi" means delicious in Japanese, and I can't even imagine how delicious, haha.
The staff told me to pour on the tsuyu sauce, so I poured it all on! They said this sauce is aged too!
Kosi Isu Branch's bukkake udon! It's topped with grated radish, lemon, scallion and shredded seaweed, and mixing it all with the sauce is so good. Really delicious! The noodles were super springy and cool. The harmony with the sauce was the best, too. There's a reason this is a famous udon spot. That springy bite feels like something you only get from truly handmade noodles!

The extra sirloin tonkatsu
The sirloin tonkatsu I added at Kosi Isu Branch was really good too. The cutlet was slightly pink, which made it even more tender and tasty. The frying was just right, and best of all, you can enjoy udon and cutlet in one go. Kosi Isu Branch is so good! Next time I'll try the cheese cutlet with udon!
