I was looking for a place near Magongnaru Station that really takes coffee seriously, so I stopped by Pict Roastery.

Where is Pict Roastery, and what about parking?
Pict Roastery is a 3-minute walk from Exit 2 of Magongnaru Station, and parking is free for 2 hours. It's also an easy walk from the Seoul Botanic Park and Magokjungang direction, so planning a route was simple.
Two free hours of parking makes it low-stress for anyone driving. The exact address is 161-1 Magokjungang-ro, Room 226, 2F, Gangseo-gu, Seoul. It's tucked a bit down an alley, but the line in its intro stuck with me: once you find it, it's the kind of neighborhood Magok café you keep coming back to.

Can you buy beans at Pict Roastery?
Yes, freshly roasted beans are sold in 200g, 500g and 1kg bags. Everything from roasting the green beans to brewing is done in the shop, so this specialty café in Magongnaru should suit anyone who's into hand drip or brewed coffee.
They'd work well for a home café or as a gift. If you want to brew their own-roasted beans again at home, that's a pretty practical plus, beyond the decaf menu.

How does the Pict Roastery bean lineup change?
The menu isn't big. What impressed me was how they focus on the tastiest cup for the current season.

They roast single origins and blends in-house every week, and the lineup changes monthly or quarterly. The profiles are designed for both espresso and brewing, and they say they use the best beans of the moment, from nutty chocolate notes to floral acidity. Getting a different cup every visit is what defines this Magongnaru café.

How do two decaf drinks and a pistachio tiramisu taste?
We ordered a decaf coconut affogato, a decaf café latte and a pistachio tiramisu at Pict Roastery.

Pistachio tiramisu
The pistachio tiramisu pairs mascarpone cream with the nutty flavor of pistachio, and eaten with coffee the sweetness never felt too much.

Decaf coconut affogato
The decaf coconut affogato is a chilled decaf shot poured over ice cream, mixing the nutty coconut with the bittersweet coffee. Being decaf, it's easy to enjoy for people sensitive to caffeine or visiting late in the day.

Decaf café latte
The decaf café latte balances the softness of milk with the heft typical of decaf beans, a safe choice when you want coffee without anything jarring.

Who is Pict Roastery for?
Pict Roastery isn't about flashy interiors. My impression was a plain, understated Magok café focused on the quality of each cup. I'd recommend it to anyone new to specialty coffee near Magongnaru, anyone looking for proper hand drip or brewing, and anyone wanting a café with a decaf option for a Magok commute or a weekend date.
