Suwon katsu spot for kids: mozzarella katsu, mild curry – Myeonsikdang
In short
Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station (면식당 망포역점) is a Japanese tonkatsu and noodle restaurant on the ground floor of Golden Square, right in front of Exit 3 of Mangpo Station in Suwon. On a visit with a 5-year-old, the writer ordered the mozzarella cheese katsu and the cold soba + 2-piece mozzarella cheese katsu set. The curry served with the mozzarella cheese katsu was mild enough for the child, and the curry and rice were unlimited. For an easy-parking, filling meal with a child near Mangpo Station, Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station is a good fit.

Last week I had a few errands in Suwon and took my kid along. When you travel with a child, you end up checking everything from parking to the food, you know? I'd heard about a good tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) place near Mangpo Station, so we went to Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station (면식당 망포역점).
Where is Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station?
You can find Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station right when you come out of Exit 3 of Mangpo Station on the Suin-Bundang Line. The address is 195 Yeongtong-ro, Yeongtong-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi, South Korea, ground floor of Golden Square, and it is open daily 10:30 to 21:00 (last order 20:30). Both parking and reservations are available.

It's a short walk from the station with no long detour, so it's easy to visit by public transport too.
Is parking free at Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station?

Myeonsikdang inspects its ingredients on the day they're delivered and has an open kitchen. Best of all, there are gluten-free menu items too, so you can choose to suit your taste or diet.

There's a parking lot inside the Golden Square building with 2 hours of free parking, so we could eat leisurely without worrying about parking. It was also featured on the YouTube web variety show 'Jeongwaja', and the video had a whopping 2.4 million views!
Kid-friendly interior and seating

The restaurant was neatly kept, with a nice variety of tables.

There are solo seats too, so people dining alone can come comfortably. The menu is varied enough for all age groups to enjoy.

In one corner there's a self-service corner where you can help yourself to side dishes and tableware as much as you like.

They also have baby chairs, so it looked great for families too.
Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station menu and what we ordered

- Mozzarella cheese katsu
- Cold soba + 2 pieces of mozzarella cheese katsu + drink

We sat down, ordered, and went to the self-service corner to grab the side dishes first.

The food was set out quickly after we ordered, so there was no boring wait.
How is the cold soba + 2-piece mozzarella cheese katsu set?

My husband ordered the cold soba (buckwheat noodles) + 2 pieces of mozzarella cheese katsu + drink set.

The cold soba looks refreshing just by looking at it!

The springy noodles and the cold broth go together so well that it's just right when you want a clean, light meal.

The broth is lightly salty with a deep savory flavor that really whets your appetite.

With cheese katsu to go along with the cold soba, you also get the filling heft that cold noodles alone might lack.

Is Myeonsikdang's mozzarella cheese katsu crispy outside and tender inside?
Now, the mozzarella cheese katsu I ordered!!

Crunchy, crisp-fried tonkatsu stuffed with plenty of rich mozzarella cheese. It makes you feel full just looking at it.

When mozzarella cheese katsu might get a bit heavy, the black sesame salad that goes with it passes too!!

There are several kinds of sauces too, so you can feast to your own taste!

The mozzarella cheese katsu really is crispy outside and juicy inside. The pork cutlet is nutty and the cheese is so soft, and every bite was so rich, haha

Mild curry a 5-year-old ate, with unlimited curry and rice
When you order the mozzarella cheese katsu at Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station, curry comes with it too, which makes it really filling. Luckily the curry isn't too spicy, so even my 5-year-old eats it well. (The curry and rice are unlimited, so it's the best value!!)
Verdict: a good restaurant near Mangpo Station for families with kids?
I was curious about this Mangpo Station favorite in Suwon since it had been on YouTube!! It's right in front of Mangpo Station, so you can get there on foot, the restaurant is clean, the prices are reasonable, and with everything from tonkatsu to noodle dishes, there's plenty to choose from depending on your taste. If you're looking for a restaurant to visit with a child in Mangpo, try Myeonsikdang Mangpo Station.
