Seoul Chinese restaurant lunch of mapo tofu rice and beef noodles

Huhugwan is a modern Asian Chinese izakaya in Jung-gu, Seoul, one minute on foot from Exit 10 of City Hall Station, on the 2nd floor of the Menchiro building on Seosomun-ro. Visiting with a friend after booking on Naver, the writer ordered mapo tofu rice for 18,000 won, beef noodle soup for 15,000 won and fried eggplant for 18,000 won, and even the complimentary egg soup was satisfying. With its exotic green-and-red interior, Huhugwan is a lunch spot worth recommending near Deoksugung Palace.

Yeouido Station snack bar, kiosk-ordered Hyeonseoni Set: Hyeonseonine

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a bunsik (Korean snack food) restaurant on level B2 of IFC Mall, right on the moving-walkway route from Exit 3 of Yeouido Station toward The Hyundai Seoul. A spur-of-the-moment stop turned into a kiosk order for the Hyeonseoni Set — tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), sundae (blood sausage), fried snacks, mini gimbap and a soda — at 23,000 won, with a self-serve bar stocked with pickled radish, salt, soy sauce and small plates. The portion suits two or three people sharing, making Hyeonseonine Premium a filling stop near The Hyundai Seoul.
