I was trying to decide on a dinner spot in Jamsil one weekend, and I ended up at Manjok Ohyang Jokbal Jamsil Sincheon Branch (만족오향족발 잠실신천점) in Jamsil Saenae. It's known as one of Seoul's top three jokbal (braised pig's trotters) places, and I'd been curious for a long time. Now I get why it's so popular! They even gave us a hot rice cake dumpling soup, which was perfect with the warm broth!

A short walk from Saenae Station

It's an easy walk from Saenae Station, so it works well as a meeting spot! Out front there's a sign saying it's one of Seoul's top three jokbal places and a Michelin Guide Seoul Bib Gourmand pick, so my expectations were up before I even went in 😊
What are the interior and partitioned seats like at Manjok Ohyang Jokbal?
Inside, the tables are nicely spaced and each table has its own partition.

With the roomy spacing it didn't feel cramped. The partitions between tables meant our group could eat comfortably, which I liked.

The walls are covered in autographs from celebrities, so you can tell it's a long-established famous spot!

✔️What we ordered: jokbal bossam (medium) + tray noodles
Does Manjok Ohyang Jokbal serve free rice cake dumpling soup?
Yes, once you order, they bring out ttteok mandutguk (rice cake and dumpling soup) first. It came with an egg too, so it was hearty and piping hot.

Many places only give you a bit of broth, but here the soup was generously filled with rice cakes and mandu (dumplings), so it didn't feel skimpy.

The broth was clean and mild, a nice way to warm up your stomach before the jokbal.
Sweet and tangy tray noodles are a must-order

The tray noodles (쟁반국수, sweet and tangy cold noodles) come piled with cabbage, red cabbage and lettuce. With jokbal, tray noodles are a must! The crunchy veggies go so well with the noodles.
There's a little peanut in the sauce too, so the sweet-tangy and nutty flavors work nicely together.

Loaded with veggies, these noodles are just right alongside jokbal. If you're having jokbal, definitely order the tray noodles too :)
How does Manjok Ohyang's jokbal taste as one of Seoul's top three?

The star, the jokbal, looked overwhelmingly glossy! Officially a jokbal hotspot!!

I picked up a glossy slice, wrapped it in cabbage, and took a bite, and I couldn't help saying "Wow...!" One bite and I understood why it's one of Seoul's top three.

I didn't know jokbal could be this soft! It's so tender, and the ratio of lean meat to skin is great, so I was exclaiming right away. I ate it plain and also as lettuce wraps. Jokbal with saeujeot (salted shrimp) is just unbeatable ♥️

Eating it with baek-kimchi (white kimchi) cut the richness, so I never got tired of it and finished it all!

And of course, you finish jokbal by grabbing the bone and tearing off the meat with your hands! The seasoning on the skin isn't salty and soaks in well, so even though I was full I kept gnawing away, haha.
Verdict on Manjok Ohyang Jokbal Jamsil Sincheon Branch
This Jamsil Saenae restaurant is filling enough for a lunch meal, but I think it's also a great choice if you're looking for a place to drink in the evening! The free dumpling soup makes it feel like a proper hearty meal, and it suits family dinners, company gatherings, or a drink with friends. If you're craving jokbal near Jamsil Station, I recommend stopping by :)
