Lychee ade brunch near Daejeon City Hall Station: Someday Romance

In short

Someday Romance is a pasta and pizza brunch restaurant on the 6th floor of Savezone in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. Walking from City Hall Station, the writer tried mentaiko pasta, Mongolian pilaf, ricotta cheese salad, lychee ade and passion fruit ade, and found the food more memorable than the resort-style outdoor space. The lychee ade alone makes Someday Romance worth a return visit.

Wait, there's a brunch hot spot on the 6th floor of Savezone? At first I figured it was just an ordinary restaurant inside a shopping mall. But the moment I stepped onto the 6th floor it was a totally different world, haha. And the even bigger surprise: the food was better than I expected!

Someday Romance space on the 6th floor of Savezone

Today's spot is Someday Romance (썸데이로맨스), a brunch place in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon. The interior caught my eye first, but after eating I understood why I'd recommend it as a Daejeon pasta restaurant. The lychee ade especially, I still think about it. I'd go back just to drink that, haha.

Savezone parking and how to walk from City Hall Station

For parking, use basement level 3 or 4 of Savezone. The restaurant's info says there's a large parking lot. When we visited, 3 hours of parking applied, which was plenty for a meal and a relaxed look around.

Public transport access is good too! Come out of Exit 6 of Daejeon Subway Line 1's City Hall Station (시청역) and just keep going straight. The restaurant's directions say the distance is 751 m. We actually got off at City Hall Station and walked, and it felt like only a few minutes. No tricky lefts and rights. Keep going straight and the Savezone building just appears, haha.

Savezone 6th floor: a brunch café inside a shopping mall?

Go into Savezone, ride the escalators up to the 5th floor, then take the stairs up one more floor to reach Someday Romance on the 6th. At first I thought, a brunch place in a mall like this? But I was shocked as soon as I walked in. Why is it so pretty here, haha? If you were picturing an ordinary mall food court, it's a total twist.

Someday Romance's outdoor area: is this really Daejeon?

The outdoor zone connects right up the stairs from the 5th floor, and with its exotic decorative doors, palm trees, stone paths and plants, it feels like an overseas resort. I ordered, then went to look around outside, and thought: is this really Daejeon?

I ordered, grabbed a seat, then looked around outside. And the space was way bigger than I expected. The more I walked, the more new spaces appeared, each with a slightly different mood. Exotic decorative doors, palm trees, stone paths, plants! It felt just like being at an overseas resort.

Resort-style outdoor area at Someday Romance

The sky was so blue and pretty that day. When the weather is as sunny as it's been lately, this seems like a really good brunch date spot in Daejeon. There are lots of outdoor tables and hidden corners, so even if you come often it'd be fun to sit somewhere new.

What caught my eye most were these independent spaces! They're partitioned like rooms, so they looked perfect for chatting with friends. Closing the door, eating good food, cackling away, haha. Just thinking about it is fun.

"Photo spots everywhere" is exactly right. Shoot from this side and it has a resort feel, from that side a different mood. Picking a spot for photos to suit your taste is part of the fun.

Pretty by day, even more atmospheric at night?

Someday Romance at night with the lights on

I saw night photos too, and with the lights on it has a completely different mood from the daytime. By day it's a sunny, exotic resort feel, while at night the soft lighting makes it look far more romantic. Having visited in the daytime, I now want to come in the evening next time.

What are the indoor area and reserved seats like?

Inside, Someday Romance is lush with plants and has spots with flowing water. I thought only the outdoor area would be pretty, but you can feel they put a lot of care into the indoor interior too, and the atmosphere was really nice.

Further inside I also saw reserved seats you can use privately, and the space was quite large. It seems well suited to gatherings of several people, like friend meetups, birthday parties or family meals. If you're looking for a gathering spot or a brunch date spot in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, it's worth putting on your list. Just check the conditions for using the separate reserved seats before you visit.

Self-serve utensils, kkakdugi, pickles and cake

You can pick up the utensils you need yourself, and take as much kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) and pickles as you like, which was convenient. And the kkakdugi and pickles were good too?! Haha. I liked even these small details.

The cakes were so cute and pretty too! The adorable look caught my eye, and I definitely want to try the cake next time. This isn't only a place for meals; it'd be fine to come just for drinks or dessert. Since it's a brunch café, it works as a plain café too.

I thought only the interior was pretty, but the food was the real twist!

Honestly, I thought a place that puts this much into its interior might have ordinary food. But no way. The food was so good, hahaha.

Mentaiko pasta: flip it over and the roe comes tumbling out!

Mentaiko pasta generously topped with roe

The mentaiko pasta (₩10,900) has plenty of roe inside, with great savory depth. It looked appetizing from the outside, and when I flipped it over, the roe came tumbling out.

With that much roe, the savory flavor was really good. The noodles were well seasoned too, so every bite felt rich. The tomatoes I bit into here and there had a nice texture and made the flavor even fuller. And they sprinkled so much chopped green onion on top! All these ingredients came together nicely and I was satisfied the whole way through. If you're looking for a Daejeon pasta restaurant, I'd recommend trying this dish.

Mongolian pilaf: not a common flavor, which made it even better

Mongolian pilaf with shrimp and meat

The Mongolian pilaf is a fried rice with vegetables, shrimp and meat, and I liked that it didn't taste like ordinary fried rice. This was really good too.

The vegetables, shrimp and meat blended together so each bite had different flavors. It doesn't taste one-note, so you don't get tired of it and keep eating. It's fun to try an unusual dish like this, haha.

Ricotta cheese salad: I should have added extra cheese, sob

Ricotta cheese salad at Someday Romance

The ricotta in the ricotta cheese salad wasn't wet or soggy; it was mild and nutty. I usually like salads, but I really liked the salad here. Especially the ricotta! Not all ricotta is the same, it turns out?

Some ricotta feels wet or soggy, but this cheese wasn't like that. Mild and nutty, and kind of wrapping the inside of your mouth cleanly, if that makes sense? It was so good I kept wanting more. While eating I even thought I should have added extra cheese. Next time I'd first check whether extra cheese is available, haha. By my standards the salad was top-notch too.

Lychee ade: it would have been a disaster to skip this, haha

Lychee ade at Someday Romance
Table with the lychee ade

The lychee ade was the emotional highlight of the day, with a deep, strong lychee aroma that made me gasp at the first sip. Lychee ade!!! Have you ever heard of lychee ade? I tried it for the first time here. I really like lychee in general, and this smelled so good from the start. Why do they make drinks this well?

Lychee ade with a heart-shaped straw

It wasn't just an ordinary ade. You could really feel the charm of lychee, and at the end I even ate the lychee pieces and those were so good too. Bliss, hahaha. And isn't the heart-shaped straw so cute? This really hit my taste. Honestly, I might come all the way back just for this lychee ade. That's how much I liked it.

The passion fruit ade is fresh and sweet too!

The passion fruit ade was fresh and sweet and really whetted the appetite. It was very good. It had a different charm from the common drinks I usually have. Drinking it with the food made everything taste richer and put me in a good mood. The food is good and the drinks are this good too, so it was a really satisfying meal.

An opening-time event and cute coupons too!

Someday Romance opening-time event notice

Someday Romance had an opening-time event posted, and they said if you collect 10 coupons you can get a drink of your choice. Lots of people skip a proper breakfast these days, but starting the day with a tasty brunch here would feel great. Sunny weather, a pretty space, good food and a leisurely time. Just thinking about it is healing, haha.

If I go again, the lychee ade is the first thing I'll think of, haha. For coupon conditions, check the restaurant's notice.

Moms worn out from parenting, I hope you come here and recharge

The owner was kind, and the space was big and pretty, so I felt good the whole time. Especially for moms worn out from parenting! How nice it would be to come to a place like this with friends, eat tasty brunch, chat and recharge. There are private seats and spaces with various moods, so it works as a gathering spot too.

Also, since it's inside the Savezone building, you can shop before or after your meal in one go. There are lots of kids' clothing shops in the building, so you can eat good food and shop too. With a route this efficient, what could be better, haha. It suits a date course in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon, and I'd recommend it for brunch with friends or a family meal.

I'm on a diet, but I ended up cleaning the plates, haha

Last, proof of the cleaned-out plates, hahahaha. It's hard to clear everything like this if the food isn't good, right? Ugh... I'm on a diet and couldn't hold back 🤣 But how can you resist when it's this good? The pasta was good, the pilaf was good and I liked the salad too, so it was a really satisfying meal.

Would I visit Daejeon's Someday Romance again?

I want to go back.

At first the pretty interior caught my eye, but after visiting, the taste of the food is what I remember more. The lychee ade especially is unforgettable. Next time I want to try the pizza I missed, other pastas and the cute cake. The menu is so varied that one visit wasn't enough.

One thing to note: you order and then pick up your food yourself, so if you want every service brought to your seat, keep that in mind.

If you're looking for a Daejeon pasta restaurant, a Dunsan-dong brunch spot or a brunch date spot in Daejeon, it's worth a visit! Someday Romance isn't just pretty, the taste was satisfying too. I'm already wondering what to try next, haha.
