A weekend date in Yeouido at Wine Joomak Chacha Yeouido Station Branch
Wine Joomak Chacha Yeouido Station Branch is a Korean-style wine bar on the 2nd floor of Estrenue on Gukjegeumyung-ro 2-gil. Last weekend, my husband and I went on a date to Yeouido after a long while. Yeouido is usually packed with office workers on weekdays, but on weekends it's relatively quiet and relaxed, which makes it a great spot for a date.
While we were figuring out where to go, one place caught our eyes — we both love wine! It was 'Wine Joomak Chacha Yeouido Branch.' Wine meets Korean food — the name alone is unique, right? We headed up to the 2nd floor full of expectations.

Where Wine Joomak Chacha is and the basics

Inside the wine bar: the mood and about 100 wines
Walking inside, I felt a modern yet cozy atmosphere. The space was much bigger than it looked from outside, and the tables were spaced generously, making it comfortable for conversation.
Being a weekend afternoon, there were several couples clearly on dates or blind dates. Apparently on weekday lunches it's also popular for Yeouido office lunch gatherings.

One wall is lined with a variety of wines, apparently around 100 kinds. For wine beginners, they run a program called '12 Wine Ladder Game,' where a few simple questions get you an easy recommendation matched to your taste — I found that really impressive. They also have a wine subscription service for wine lovers, so this place really seems serious about wine!
What the couple ordered and what it cost
We ordered four things at Wine Joomak Chacha Yeouido Station Branch that day: chicken doenjang cream risotto ₩22,000, fresh mozzarella mushroom salad ₩25,000, Hinomaru signature single malt ₩22,000, and [non-alcoholic] homemade sangria ₩13,000.

You can order simply through table order!

The basic side dishes came out! This place broke the prejudice that wine and Korean food don't go together...!

Non-alcoholic homemade sangria and Hinomaru single malt
Since I drove, I sadly ordered the non-alcoholic sangria, while my husband got a glass of Hinomaru single malt whiskey. He was very satisfied, saying the Hinomaru signature single malt was clean yet deeply flavorful.
The homemade sangria was full of refreshing, sweet fruity aroma, so I could enjoy the mood plenty even without alcohol. And the refreshing visual too — pass! Next time I want to leave the car at home and enjoy it with a glass of wine for sure.
How corkage-free works at Wine Joomak Chacha
One of the biggest perks of Wine Joomak Chacha is that it's corkage-free! If you make a Naver reservation and write a photo review per bottle, corkage is free (basic use time is 2 hours), so it's a great spot to bring a wine you've been saving.
Fresh mozzarella mushroom salad, 25,000 won

First, the salad we ordered as a palate cleanser. Thick-cut fresh mozzarella cheese and chewy mushrooms come together generously. Paired with fresh vegetables and balsamic sauce, it was tangy and savory at once. The portion was quite large too, making it perfect to pair with the main dish.
Chicken doenjang cream risotto, 22,000 won (highly recommended)

And the highlight of this date! It's this risotto. Doenjang (fermented soybean paste) meeting cream — at first I couldn't quite imagine it, but one bite in, it was a whole new world!

Beneath the creaminess, the savory flavor of doenjang was deeply infused, with zero unpleasantness and an explosion of umami. The chicken chunks were big and tender too, and the chives on top finished it off cleanly!

It really lived up to the concept of pairing Korean food and wine in special ways, like 'wine with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).' My husband and I both promised to come back just for this risotto — that's how strongly I recommend it. I could really feel the charm of modern Korean cuisine reinterpreting a familiar dish!

The wine here is great, but the food is really, really great!!
Is Wine Joomak Chacha worth it for a Yeouido date?
'Wine Joomak Chacha Yeouido Branch' didn't fall short on atmosphere, food quality, or the diverse wine list. In particular, customer-friendly services like the corkage-free perk and the 12 Wine Ladder Game left a strong impression.

It's a space that satisfies everyone from wine beginners to enthusiasts, so I highly recommend it for Yeouido lunch gatherings or dates. Next time, I want to use the corkage-free perk to bring my favorite wine and try the signature dishes, cha-yuk-ssam (boiled pork wraps) and fresh mozzarella tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), too!
