Yesan Market chicken stir-fry, every add-on for ₩33,000: Sijang
In short
Sijang Dakbokkeum (시장닭볶음) is a mostly takeout shop inside Yesan Market in Yesan, Chungnam, that sells one dish: shishito pepper chicken stir-fry (dakbokkeum). After a day of water play at Splash Resom, the blogger ordered boneless chicken with all four add-ons (shishito peppers, bunmoja glass noodles, quail eggs and sausage) to go for ₩33,000, reheated it at home over medium-low heat, and two people finished it all. Sijang Dakbokkeum charges nothing extra for boneless, and the shishito peppers give its salty-sweet soy sauce a kick that keeps the dish from feeling greasy.

After a day at Splash Resom, we stopped by Yesan Market and picked up takeout from Sijang Dakbokkeum! I added every add-on, from shishito peppers to bunmoja, quail eggs and sausage, and for ₩33,000 the amount was insane. We ate until we were stuffed!
What is Sijang Dakbokkeum in Yesan Market?
Sijang Dakbokkeum (시장닭볶음) is a shop inside Yesan Market that specializes in shishito pepper chicken stir-fry (dakbokkeum). We came after a day of water play at Splash Resom in Yesan, and dropped by the market!

I'd visited Yesan Market once before after watching Paik Jong-won's YouTube channel, but this time I wanted to try somewhere new, so I wandered around the market and found Sijang Dakbokkeum!
Sijang Dakbokkeum opening hours and menu
Hours are Tuesday to Sunday, 11:00–20:30, closed on Mondays. Hours seem to change on public holidays, so check before you go!
There's only one menu item: shishito pepper chicken stir-fry. Somehow that made me trust the place right away, you know?

They say it's the only dakbokkeum of its kind in the whole country! I wonder if Paik Jong-won gave them this idea too...!!

Can you eat in at Sijang Dakbokkeum?
The shop is small, so there's nowhere to eat inside. It looked like you could eat in the Yesan Market plaza or at the tables in front of the shop! The plaza was packed with people, haha.

You can also get an apple drink if you write a Naver review, so keep that in mind! There's a guide for people eating on site too. You could borrow a grill pan and eat it with a bowl of rice, which sounds great!

Does Sijang Dakbokkeum charge extra for boneless? My order with every add-on
Boneless costs the same as bone-in at Sijang Dakbokkeum. I ordered boneless and added shishito peppers, bunmoja (chewy glass-noodle-like rice cakes), sausage and quail eggs, all of them, for takeout, haha.
We were heading home and wanted to eat it with a glass of soju, so we decided on takeout! My partner prefers boneless, so we ordered the chicken boneless. What I liked: jjimdak (braised chicken) places charge extra for boneless, but here the price is the same! I always wondered why they charge extra when it isn't even domestic boneless chicken, and finally I found the right place!

Takeout wait at Sijang Dakbokkeum: the KakaoTalk pickup alert
After you order, you can look around Yesan Market, and a KakaoTalk message tells you when it's ready for pickup. When you're traveling, that's much easier than standing around waiting just to pack up one dish. You can order and browse the market!

How big is the ₩33,000 takeout order from Sijang Dakbokkeum?
The ₩33,000 Sijang Dakbokkeum with every add-on was a huge amount. When I saw the finished food: crazy good looking, and a huge amount.

I mean, sure, I added the extras, but there was also a ton of chicken! At franchise jjimdak places the price is pretty high but the chicken feels a bit skimpy. Here the chicken itself is generous, and I loved that!

How to reheat takeout dakbokkeum at home
Soy-sauce-based dakbokkeum that makes your mouth water just looking at it! We browsed the market and ate at home, so it had cooled a bit, and we gently reheated it over medium-low heat as the lid instructs. In a hotel room I'd have microwaved it, but at home... you can't beat that fire flavor, so I reheated it properly! Hahaha!
What does shishito chicken stir-fry taste like? Soy sauce with a pepper kick
The flavor is a salty-sweet soy sauce base, and with the distinctive aroma of the shishito peppers added, it was much cleaner-tasting than I expected!

Seriously, the shishito peppers are the kick here. Soy-based dakbokkeum can get a little heavy and tiring, but the fresh, slightly sharp taste of the peppers keeps you going back for more!
I haven't tried the basic version, so I don't know what's in it without add-ons. Just add everything like I did^^; It's all delicious, haha.

The boneless chicken my partner loves comes in generous portions, and chicken with shishito peppers goes really well together! Lots of other reviews said it's great with white rice, and after trying it I get why.

We'd already eaten a bunch at Splash Resom and were fairly full, so we skipped the white rice and just ate the dakbokkeum, hahaha, and ended up finishing it all^^ Pig mode activated!

It was definitely a huge portion...? Yet at some point I was saying how tasty it was and it was gone..;;; If you're going to Splash Resom, I think takeout to eat in your room would be really good too!

Is Sijang Dakbokkeum good takeout for a Yesan trip?
If you're looking for takeout while traveling in Yesan, Sijang Dakbokkeum at Yesan Market is worth trying at least once!

Generous portions, add-ons as you like, and above all the shishito peppers keep it from feeling heavy, so you keep reaching for more!!

Next time, I'd go with the shishito + bunmoja + quail egg combo!
Verdict: salty soy sauce dakbokkeum with shishito peppers as the kick! The portion is generous too, perfect for takeout!
