Haha, my dream is to visit every Veteran General Fish Market in the country! This time I'm reviewing the Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Yeonsu Branch, where I went on a weekend evening.

How big is the Yeonsu branch?

The Yeonsu branch is much bigger than the two branches in Guwol-dong. What surprised me when I walked in was how huuuuge the place is, hahahahaha. All of us went, "Wow, this place is big" haha;

I've been to both Guwol-dong branches and this one is far bigger. I knew it was a well-known sashimi restaurant in Yeonsu-dong, but it was amazing to see all those seats completely full.

Flounder + rockfish (medium) for ₩39,000, a girls' second round

At the Yeonsu branch we ordered the flounder + rockfish set (medium) for ₩39,000, because it was just three women coming for a second round. Check Naver Place for the menu (^///^)

Self bar and after-meal ice cream and coffee

The Yeonsu branch has ice cream and coffee ready for after the meal. Sometimes your mouth feels a bit dry after sashimi, so this makes for a clean finish haha

You can refill any side dishes you run out of at the self bar.

The fun of frying your own kimchi pancake

The charm of Veteran General Fish Market is that you can make the kimchi pancake yourself, hoho. I have clumsy hands and sometimes ruin it ^^;; haha, so my companions usually do it for me.

How were the side dishes and pollack roe?

When we ordered the flounder and rockfish set, the side dishes were set out.

Warm broth served with the side dishes

The warm broth is nice.

They also bring out myeongranjeot (salted pollack roe), which I love. When you go for sashimi you usually get basics like chogochujang (sweet chili vinegar sauce), soy sauce and garlic, but this pollack roe isn't common.

Salted pollack roe served alongside the sashimi

This salty pollack roe is fine with sashimi, and also tasty picked at bit by bit as a side dish or drinking snack, so my chopsticks kept going back to it between bites 🎶🎶

Portion size and sashimi thickness of the set

I was surprised by how generous the flounder and rockfish set for two was. No wonder it's famous as a sashimi restaurant near Yeonsu Station. (Though I only noticed while writing this: what kind of fish is the one in the middle? I definitely ordered the flounder and rockfish set... but hey, even better ☆*: .。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆)

The sashimi isn't sliced too thin; it's cut to just the right thickness for eating.

One side has fin pieces, and fins are chewier and nuttier than the regular flesh. The set for two comes loaded with the prized fin pieces 🤍

Rockfish with makjang, flounder with salt and oil

The rockfish has that signature chewy texture, so dip it in makjang (seasoned soybean paste).

Whoooo are you!!!!!!! Sea bream?!?!??!?!?! -3- Anyway, into my belly you go

Tasting the flounder and rockfish sashimi

Flounder, do I even need to say? It's light and clean-tasting, so dipping it in salt-and-sesame-oil sauce is just perfect.

The drinks go down so easily.

Flounder and rockfish sashimi for lettuce wraps

Lettuce wraps and seasoned vegetables

Sashimi is good just dipped in sauce, but isn't a big lettuce wrap the real way to eat it? Maybe because the slices are thick, the flavor doesn't get lost in the wrap. Sashimi really is best wrapped up in one big bite 🥬🐟🥬🐟🥬🐟🥬🐟🥬🐟

The vegetables tossed in chogochujang were sweet and tangy, and went well with the sashimi.

Finishing with a happy group photo!

Is the Yeonsu branch good as a meetup spot near Yeonsu Station?

The Yeonsu branch is great for friends quietly enjoying sashimi, but it also has seating for bigger groups, so I thought it would work for group gatherings and company dinners too. It's fairly close to Yeonsu Station, which makes setting up a meetup easy!

If you're looking for a meetup spot in Yeonsu-dong or near Yeonsu Station and you like sashimi or seafood, I highly recommend the Yeonsu branch. The atmosphere suits family meals, company dinners and friends' group gatherings alike :)
