Songdo sushi restaurant with Mom at weekend opening: Sushi Doku

I visited Sushi Doku The Songdo in Songdo, Incheon :) It's known as one of the top sushi spots, so I'd wanted to go for ages, and I finally made it, with my mom in tow!!!! It's clean, the atmosphere is nice, and it's just perfect for a family meal haha

Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Honesta Mall, 157 Songdogukjedae-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, South Korea, and it was really easy to find from Exit 2 of Technopark Station! If you park at Honesta Mall, you get 2 hours free.

Even though it opens at 11, there was a huge wait..! I arrived right at opening and plenty of people were already waiting. Popular places really are different haha

Sushi Doku The Songdo menu: what did we order?

The menu has lots of options, so you can pick whatever suits your taste :)

We ordered Sushi Doku's signature 'Pumgyeok Sushi Set' 🍣 On the menu it's listed as the premium sushi set, 10 pieces, ₩25,900.

Omg, the moment the sushi arrived I gasped at how it looked!!!!! Even the bowls felt so Japanese 😖

When you eat sushi you've got to have udon and tempura too, and this set has it all, right? (Udon and sushi are a perfect match ❤️🍣🍜)

The 10 pieces in the premium sushi set and what order to eat them

The premium sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo has 10 kinds of sushi: flounder, sea bream, salmon, ika (squid), sweet shrimp, akami (lean red tuna), red shrimp, red snow crab, eel and ankimo (monkfish liver)! A staff member explained that it tastes even better if you go from white fish to salmon to tuna haha. Some of you may already know, but save this and use it next time you eat sushi ❤️

Chawanmushi (steamed egg custard) with truffle oil

My beloved Japanese steamed egg, chawanmushi!!!! The chawanmushi at Sushi Doku is topped with truffle oil, and the flavor was just crazy! So good ♡ There are ginkgo nuts inside too, so the texture was great! (The best... bb)

They pour soy sauce into the little dish for you. There's even a brush for putting soy sauce on the sushi, which made it so easy!!!

Sea bream AND monkfish liver, seriously?! ㅠㅠ🥺❤️ You can really feel the care in every single piece, and I marveled with every bite!!!! The squid was so good too, but I ate it before I could take a photo haha😂

Shrimp tempura, salad refills and fried tofu udon

The shrimp tempura in the set was crispy and delicious, and the sauce was really good too! It went perfectly with the tempura 🍤❤️ Oh, and lol, the salad was so good I wolfed it down, and a staff member asked, "Would you like a refill?" lol Everyone was so, so kind, which made it feel even more like Japan, and the salad, even the salad dressing, lol, was sooo goood ㅜㅠ

The fried tofu (yubu) in the udon was exactly my style, and the broth was amazing too, it honestly felt like being in Japan 🇯🇵❤️

How fresh are the salmon and tuna sushi?

The length, the thickness, all perfect... the salmon was just so fresh and sooo good ㅠㅠ The freshness came through the moment any of the fish hit my mouth, and each piece melting softly was just wonderful...! The tuna and salmon sushi especially had just the right amount of fat, so they were soft and rich, absolutely superb...

If you really love sushi, this is a place you have to visit at least once...

For dessert, a cup of warm plum tea (maesil-cha) settled everything. Wait, even the plum tea was good lol?! ❤️ (A clean finish with plum tea)

Sushi Doku The Songdo atmosphere: good for a family meal?

Sushi Doku The Songdo has an upscale, tidy atmosphere, so it works for special days too. The tables are spaced widely and there seem to be dividers, so we could eat very comfortably...! I went with my mom, and I think it would suit family meals, gatherings, or even important occasions like business meetings~~! Because it was just so good!!!!

How long is the weekend wait at Sushi Doku, and can you book?

Sushi Doku The Songdo was full as soon as it opened at 11 on the weekend, and when we finished eating there were 5 groups waiting!!!! Still~~ you get seated fairly quickly, and you can reserve in advance, so if you hate waiting, just book and go haha

It was so good that I shared it with a friend right away, and she already knew about it lol. That's enough for me to say it's worth the wait. The wait doesn't lie~~♡
