Songdo outlet fry shop with wasabi mayo and 7 free dips: Angry Potato

Today I went to Hyundai Premium Outlet in Songdo and finally tried Angry Potato, a place I'd always been curious about since I kept seeing it at department store pop-ups :) The menu had all the good stuff bundled together, so I ordered a set that let me try a bunch of menu items at once. From fries to chicken to mini burgers to cheese sticks, the variety is huge — great as a snack, and even better as beer food!

Where Angry Potato Songdo is, and how parking works

Angry Potato Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo Branch is located in the food court on B1 of Hyundai Premium Outlet Songdo. Angry Potato is a hand-cut, 100% fresh potato fry brand that's also popular as a department store pop-up, but the Songdo outlet location isn't a limited-time pop-up — it's a proper permanent store.

If you're visiting by car, you can use the Songhyeona underground parking lot, which is free on weekdays. On weekends, you get 3 hours free with a purchase of ₩10,000 or more, and 6 hours free with ₩100,000 or more.

It's located right in front of the Songhyeona food court entrance.

When you order fries at Angry Potato, they hand you freshly fried potato chips in a yellow tub. Fresh out of the fryer, it's the perfect beer snack that disappears in seconds.

They run a free sauce bar, but if you want to take sauce with you separately, you can buy a 1- or 3-compartment cup and portion it out. If you're not eating right away, I'd recommend grabbing sauce in one of these containers to go!

The 7 free self-serve sauces, and why wasabi mayo wins on fries

At Angry Potato you order and take your food to the shared food court tables, and if there's anything left over you can pack it up yourself to take home. Personally, what I loved most was the self-serve sauce bar!

All the sauces are free, and there are a whopping 7 kinds available.

• Diablo hot sauce

I loved being able to pick and dip the fries or chicken into whichever sauce suited my mood. For me, dipping the fries in wasabi mayo was absolutely delicious.

What comes in the 37,000-won Deep Squat Party Pack

Angry Potato's menu turned out to have way more variety than just fries — chicken, mini burgers, cheese sticks, chewy potato, and more. There's even a chicken-and-rice combo for a simple meal. Once I started picking, there were too many things I wanted to try, so I ended up ordering the Deep Squat Party Pack, which packs in a bunch of the popular menu items at once.

The Deep Squat Party Pack comes with 5 hot crunch chicken, 3 mini burger skewers, 2 chili cheese sticks, fries, 2 chewy potato skewers, mac and cheese, cheddar cheese, ranch taro, and pickles — this many different items all in one.

Instead of ordering a bunch of things separately, you get to try a wide variety at once, so I'd recommend the set menu to anyone like us who wants to try a bit of everything.

Hot crunch chicken

This is Angry Potato's hottest item — hot crunch chicken. I noticed in other reviews that a lot of people order this alone to go, too :) The outside fries up crispy while the boneless chicken inside stays moist and tender, and with the spicy seasoning on top it was seriously delicious. It's great plain, but dipping it into whichever sauce you like from the self-serve bar takes it to another level.

Mini burger skewers

One menu item I quietly enjoyed way more than expected was the mini burger skewers. Adorably tiny burgers threaded onto a skewer — and the fun part is that the 3 little precious burgers aren't all the same flavor, each one is different! Even in that small size, the patty and fillings are packed in generously, so it'd make a great snack for kids too.

Chewy potato skewers and mac and cheese

I don't usually love mac and cheese, but paired with the mini burgers it turned out to be a real treat, haha. And the item whose name alone had me curious — the chewy potato skewers! The texture was completely different from regular fries. It had this chewy, rice-cake-like bounce that made me go "huh?" Somewhere between a potato and a mochi... if you're into chewy foods, you'll have fun with this one.

Chili cheese sticks

The chili cheese sticks stretch beautifully when you eat them warm. This one you really should try fresh at the shop. The crispy coating is packed full of savory cheese, and it instantly makes you crave a beer... The seasoning on the outside made it even tastier. Great as a snack, but I'd especially recommend it as beer food!

Handmade fries cut from fresh potatoes

And of course, the star of Angry Potato — hand-cut fresh potato fries. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and being freshly fried made them even better. Angry Potato's fries are genuinely delicious plain, no sauce needed.

Eating at the food court, and taking it home as beer food next time

It's great as a snack, but eating through it I kept thinking things like the mac and cheese, cheese sticks and chicken would pair perfectly with beer at home too. The freshly fried potato chips in particular seem like something kids would love as a snack too. Today I enjoyed it in the shared food court space, but next time I'm planning to pack it up entirely and enjoy it at home as beer food :)
