Seonyudo Park picnic burgers to go: mushroom and wasabi shrimp, BAS

Now that the weather's getting nicer, a lot of people are heading to Hangang Park or Seonyudo Park for picnics, haha. I was looking for something simple to eat before heading to the park and ended up at BAS Burger Seonyudo, a handmade burger spot right in front of Seonyudo Station!

It's comfortable to eat in, but it's also great for getting takeout on your way to Seonyudo Park, so it's perfect as a Han River picnic menu. We ordered the mushroom burger, the wasabi mayo shrimp burger, and sweet potato fries!

How close is it to Seonyudo Station?

BAS Burger Seonyudo is located so close to the station that you can spot it right as you exit Seonyudo Station. You don't need to walk far from the subway, which made it convenient as a meeting spot too. It also looks great for grabbing burgers to go and heading over to Seonyudo Park or Hangang Park.

The space has a casual, relaxed vibe, so it felt comfortable whether eating alone or dropping by with friends or a partner.

One nice feature of BAS Burger is that if you order a burger, you get free access to a self-serve bar of potato chips in the store.

It was kind of nice being able to nibble on crunchy chips while waiting for the burger, haha. BAS Burger Seonyudo is open daily from 11am and also offers takeout!

Mushroom Burger: the texture of fried shiitake mushroom

The mushroom burger comes with a beef patty, cheddar cheese, grilled onion, and fried shiitake mushroom.

Picking up the burger, the fillings were so generous it was hard to fit it in one bite...!! The rich flavor of the beef patty combined with the distinct aroma and chewy texture of the mushroom made for an overall savory, heavy taste.

Instead of just plain mushrooms, it had crispy fried shiitake mushroom inside, so the texture was fun with every bite.

If you want something more filling and special than a plain patty-only burger, I'd recommend the mushroom burger, haha. Adding sauce from the self-serve bar gives it yet another flavor dimension, which was great!!

Wasabi Mayo Shrimp Burger and sweet potato fries

The wasabi mayo shrimp burger comes with whole shrimp, onion rings, lettuce, tomato, teriyaki sauce, and wasabi mayo. When you think of a shrimp burger, you usually picture something soft and savory. This one has wasabi mayo, so it had a spicy kick here and there that cut through the richness — that was its charm!

It wasn't so sharp it hurt your nose, more like the shrimp's springy texture and savory mayo sauce came first, with the wasabi scent rising subtly afterward. There were also onion rings inside, so I got to enjoy soft shrimp and crispy texture at the same time.

If the mushroom burger is savory and rich, the wasabi mayo shrimp burger is a bit lighter and sharper, so the two together worked really well, haha.

For a side, we ordered sweet potato fries. Crispy outside, sweet inside — eating one here and there between bites of salty burger made for a great sweet-and-salty combo. If regular fries feel a bit plain to you, I'd suggest switching to sweet potato fries!

Why it's good to stop by before a Han River picnic

BAS Burger Seonyudo is close to the station and easy for takeout, making it a great Seonyudo restaurant to visit before heading out to Seonyudo Park or Hangang Park. If you like a burger full of meaty flavor, I'd recommend the mushroom burger; if you like something a bit more special and spicy, the wasabi mayo shrimp burger!

On a nice day, grabbing burgers and sides to go and eating them by the Han River — isn't that really the simplest, most perfect picnic...? Hahaha.
