A weekend night when I didn't want to go home yet: Pizza257 Songdo Branch

Pizza257 Songdo Branch is becoming known as one of Songdo's go-to wood-fired pizza places these days. It was the weekend, we'd had a nice dinner and a relaxed time, and I didn't want to head home yet. I was looking for somewhere not too heavy that still had a good atmosphere, and that's how I ended up at Pizza257 Songdo Branch.

Where is Pizza257 Songdo Branch? How far from Incheon National University Station?

Pizza257 Songdo Branch is a 5–10 minute walk from Incheon National University Station. It's across from Songdo Convensia, right next to Paul Bassett, so it wasn't hard to find.

The building has a quiet feel, so it's good for talking, and the cozy atmosphere suits a get-together with friends or a date.

Once inside, the wood-fired oven used for baking the pizza is the first thing that catches your eye.

What's on the Pizza257 menu and how much is it?

Pizza257's wood-fired pizzas average in the ₩20,000s per pie, from the ₩19,000 margherita to the ₩27,000 arugula prosciutto cheese pizza. All of them are baked in the wood-fired oven in the restaurant.

There's spicy tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) at ₩15,000 that goes well with pizza, mukt-tae (dried pollack snack) at ₩17,900 for when you want a dry snack, and sausage & fries at ₩17,900 that pair nicely with beer.

It was a nice day and I wanted to treat myself, so a cold beer while winding down and talking about how the day went felt just right.

How was the Pizza257 pepperoni cheese pizza?

The pepperoni cheese pizza at Pizza257 comes out about 10 minutes after you order. It's fun to see it made so quickly right there, and nothing fancy, just pepperoni and cheese, is plenty tasty. Maybe because it's baked in the wood-fired oven, the crust was extra chewy and clean-tasting.

The weather was cool with a nice breeze, and as we chatted away, I felt tipsy on the atmosphere even though I'd only had beer.

Is it okay as a second stop after dinner? Taking leftovers home

I'd already eaten dinner before coming to Pizza257 Songdo Branch, but the pizza was so good that I kept having one slice, then another, without any resistance. Eventually a lot of time had passed and I was really full, so I asked them to pack the leftover pizza to go.

Quite a few people were actually taking pizza to go. While we were having pizza and beer, I watched customers pick up takeout one by one, and it occurred to me that if you have kids, eating out can feel like a hassle, so taking it home to eat casually would work well too.

My second visit: what to eat next time

This was my second visit to Pizza257 Songdo Branch, and since I usually love pepperoni, I ordered pepperoni again, no surprises. Next time I might try the quarto (4-cheese). The chewy crust fresh out of the wood-fired oven never gets old, so you end up finishing the whole thing.

They serve wine as well as beer, so Pizza257 Incheon National University Station branch is a good wood-fired pizza place in Songdo for a date.
